You think James was riding Blue while training for the des Nations where he would then switch to ride Green in that race so he could be more in tune with the Blue bike for the US open just becuase he got some JSE stickers printed up for the semi?

I don't think so. He doesn't have alot of time on blue and as we've seen, most of 'em really don't need much time.
I think you would be wrong.

I thought the coverage was good, it's really the only opportunity to get in profiles on riders like Byrne. The profiles were really well done and they will help draw new people into the sport.
It would have been nice if they showed both nights though.

Reed looked smooth on the Zook and its going to be an awesome SX season.

History tells us the US Open really means nothing in the upcoming SX season (or the "SX outdoors" for that matter..........sarcasim alert). The broadcast was geared for the "ACTION SPORT SEGMENT". The mainstream media is not packaging this for MX fans per se, but trying to sell it to main stream viewers. We want mainstream, this is it folks................enjoy.

Lets get live internet coverage via pay per view and cover this non mainstream sport like its ment to be................if not, lets say "PARTY LIKE A ROCK STAR!!!!!!!" a few thousand times!

Does everyone complaining about the coverage forget that it's not for the hard core moto fan? If all they did was show the racing, it would be pretty boring for 90% of the audience they want to tune in.

For the non racer, getting to see the riders and all the other non race stuff is what brings them in.

Once they get all that, then finally some pretty good racing for the last half hour or so. If they go back to racing only, it'll be off TV in a heart beat.

There isn't enough of us around to keep the shows on...

I watched the race with a non riding co-worker, 45 minutes in he said if they decide to show any actual racing to call him so he could watch it and then went back to doing some paperwork.

i like the fact that reedy made it plain and simple there's no love lost between him and stewy.... he said something along the lines that Rc and him race each other hard BUT they also respected each other as where stewy has no respect for him... Wink

First off we all had this same conversation last year, we all agreed to get new people in the sport they needed more puff pieces like "getting to know the riders" this was by far the best broadcast I have seen where they talked about the riders, showed their numbers, bikes, gear all of it, showed Josh Hill being goofy, which he is.

Showed Michael Byrne as serious, which he is, and if you really think about it this is just a BIG commercial for this coming January to show who a lot of the key players are. Even showed the riders who were there just spectating...all good pieces. Jim and Jason did a great job for sure.

The rider"bios" were good but the commentators during the race seemed to be calling a golf match not an action sports show......They were so monotone and not into it at all.

Since this was not an important race in the scheme of things, i think they did a great job of showing us a behind the scenes look at some of the top riders in our sport in a professional polished manner. If any of you watch other mainstream sporting events, these kinds of broadcasts are a normal part of every event. I for one am happy they have a show like this and for the die hard race only fans, they did show the second and pivotal night in its entirety. Props to CBS for taking this goofy little arena cross race and turning it into a bit more!

This was a horrific broadcast. I kept saying "Surely they'll start showing the racing right away" for more than an hour.

I have no problem with all the interviews, infomercials, etc...if they show more racing to go along with it. It's true that other sports do interviews and get a 'behind-the-scenes' flavor for the events. But, they get lots more air time to do that.

I believe this race is important in the scheme of things. It gives riders a chance to try out their new equipment and it also gives spectators a preview of what the next season will be offering. I also like the idea that some of the 2nd tier riders get a chance to showcase their talent .

It was VERY boring for those of us that have seen thousands of JS and CR interviews. But, I guess, for some it may have been interesting. I enjoyed the Josh Hill part, but It would also have been interesting to showcase the guys in the smaller rigs setting out in the back forty, competing and doing well.

Actually I turned it off after wasting an hour.

They did a good job of hyping up the sport though. It was on a major network on a Saturday for an hour and a half. Lot's of rider profiles. People not that familiar with the sport might have just become fans or at least got educated a little more about our sport. It was fine-can't complain.
