Until we see a price, we don't know if this is truly an "entry level" bike, but let's hope...

Looks like a 7/8ths model of the larger bike. When will someone make a 1 1/4 size bike for us larger guys?!? They're all made for Bagget and Carmichael...... Huh

Nobody gets it .... entry level people !!!! Means "hey I don't know if I really like this but I'll spend a little to find out". Go to the parts bin and piece a bike together ... certainly not 300cc's worth ... I don't care how mellow some sales geek says it is, that's too much. A 175 to 200 two stroke is plenty for an entry level bike. And a 4 to 5k price tag isn't asking too much. Good luck Beta.

A de-tuned 300 might offer the perfect blend of torque and "rideability". Small bores requires high revs to deliver adequate power, while 300s can lug through all manner of obstacles. (Looking for an "Amen!" from Peely.)

As a 5'8" rider interested in fun over race wins, the Beta has my interest peaked while the Freeride toils in EMEA. The 7/8ths bike fits a huge demographic for those challenged with

LoudLove,

I ride a 300 like Peely and I can attest to the beauty of the bike. There are many Betas in FL racing now and I must say I'm very impressed. This bike could be a game changer for Beta and some other smaller brands as we all know the Japanese companies wouldn't reach out like this.

Being 5'9" I'm curious about the smaller bike even though I love my 300XC.

I don't get it how is that anymore entry level than a KTM 150? No entry level dude needs to be on a 300 2 stroke.

Why not ,300cc, some flywheel,slow revs and a bit of torque is far better suited to entry level than 12000 rpm lightswitch.....

A friend of mine has one (Beta 300 race edition) and it is absolutely a work of art to look at. All the welds on the frame looked perfect, and being the race edition it has all the trick goodies. I rode it briefly and I it is a very solid bike. Here is a quick run down of what I noticed:

Positives:
1.Motor is incredible! Some might want a bit more off the bottom, but I liked to smooth power for the really tight stuff. Throw this bike in third and it will lug like you wouldn't believe, it is very trials bike like in nature.

2.Ergos. Everything felt pretty good, nothing stuck out as too weird to me or distracted me while riding.

3. Looks. These bikes are hands down the best looking production bikes in my opinion. All of the parts seemed high quality and flowed well together.

1.Suspension. It wasn't terrible by any means, but I felt like the Marrizochi forks were a bit harsh.

2.Seat. I swear they put a seat cover over a 2x4! Whoever though that was a good idea is crazy!

3.Having to run 100 octane.

Overall:

I rode it back to back with my dad's ktm 300 and I liked both bikes a lot. I felt like the ktm handled a little better, but the motor on the Beta made is much easier to ride. If you could stick the Beta motor in the ktm chassis, you would have the perfect bike! I can't comment on parts availability or anything like that since it isn't my bike, but I would love to own one if it was in the budget. Maybe once I graduate.

Edit: Keep in mind this is all based off a very brief test ride of both bikes.

Yes and yes. I just picked up by 2015 Beta 500 RS today and went to 3Palms and put it on the track. Big fun diesel like engine, suspension better than the recent orange bikes I have ridden and she is so sexy!

By the way I started a thread on this new bike yesterday. There are some more photos there.

Wrong. Nothing in common, they don't even really look the same. Beta is a much more quality bike than a GG. I tried the 15' model, those bikes are good. Easy to ride, smooth... The fork needs a bit of work, but other than that, great bikes.

The X-trainer only puts out 40 hp so it's a 300 motor but it's pretty de-tuned! I believe a stock ktm 250 puts out about 50hp

Why doesn't a manufacture build an air cooled, carberated, detuned 200 cc 2 stroke or 350 cc four stroke, with an e start, a steal frame, basic suspension, and modern "plastics" and ergos...and sell it for $4K-$5K.

Make it bullet proof, cheap, ridable, low maintenance, and make it modern looking (look like a modern mx bike-cool looking) and they would sell a TON of them.

I honestly think that is what the dirt bike market needs...it will get more new riders into the sport, who will eventually move up to higher performance machines and hopefully racing.

The only bikes a manufacturer can offer below the $5000 price point needs to sell in HUGE numbers. If not, they actually lose money on them. Minibikes are a loser. Kids and 250cc quads are a loser. They do it so they can hopefully get a child locked on their brand and also allow a youngster to have the same brand as Daddy. This is why they are also the same bikes for years and years. A lot of of the manufacturers need to farm out the small bikes to other companies or their own factory in a 3rd world country for cheap labor. Always look at your vin # and you will see where that bike was made.

Lets just face it, the days of a decent full size off road bike that you can get for $5k are over. This Beta is as close as you will ever come.
