Price Question on this CR250

Is $3500 too much to ask for this 2003 CR250?
It was a winter project while I was rehabbing my knee. I rode it a couple of times and raced it once, and it has sat in the garage ever since.

Carbon talon/excel A60 wheelset
Pro Taper bars/grips/chain/sprockets
Pro Circuit exhaust
new updated carb
new OE cylinder
OE top end
spare OE top end
etc...

Well, in PA right now, PR2 (Durn Durm's daddy) has a fully built 55hp 05 for 2,900 that still have the original plastics on it (extremely low hours bike)

I'd say 3,500 is at least 500 too high. And right now with holidays rapidly approaching, bike sales are stale until about February when everyone gets jiggy rich for a month.

Cliff's Notes: Plan to get 3,000 and plan to sit on it through the holidays

Close. Better than any comparable condition 2003 era foopter and worth twice as much.

I think it's high but it depends on area/market and also there are always a few Honda nuthuggers that want to pay a bunch for a low hours CR haha

Yeah 3500 is a little high, no matter what market IMO (US only, can't comment on other countries). Realistically you could possibly find an 03 that is in good shape for a full 1k less. Then spend that extra thou on suspension, gas, premix, the works.

That is one sweet looking 250 for sure. I think you may be a little high , but I'm not sure how strong the market is where you live. This time of year ( winter ) it's hard to sell any bike. In the spring I would start it around that price and expect to maybe get $3000 - $3200.

$3500.00 is pretty steep considering that we are just getting into winter. With that being said.....spring time in the NW here , you possibly could get the full asking price. They sell quick here.

You could always try. Around here I think you would have to take between $2000-$2500. The non oem stuff is killing it and the aftermarket stuff isn't doing enough for it to recover.

Have you seen the mint 2007 CR250R in Lehighton? He is asking $4500 has less than 10 hours.



OP: That price is high for an 03 it should be under $3k especially now since it is a buyers market. I have seen 02-03's go as low as $2k.

That's what I was thinking. If they will bring some coin on their own, maybe throw the stockers back on there, sell the bike in the 2600-2800 range and get over the 3k mark with the sale of the wheels.

I think so but that thing is killer. Honda makes cheap parts for it and you can race them with 250 4 strokes.

You're never going to get out of that bike what you put in it, which begs the question - why sell it? Assuming you like the bike, ride the hell out of that thing for a couple of years then sell it. Beautiful bike.

I would either rebuild it completely stock or send it out and have a 144 built. Get the suspension set up for you and have a blast. Those were awesome bikes. That era RM was very durable. My 250's eat stock clutch baskets and inner hubs but I'm not sure about the 125's. If it does, your problem is solved with a Hinson set up.

I'm a lazy vet practice rider and although I like the sound and smell of this bike, I like my 450 much better.
