...a rider do this on the first lap of a big money race?

Ryan Eppers went down in the 2nd 450 moto at the Pro Challenge. His leg was pinned under the bike and hot radiator fluid was dumping all over him. Michael Pritchett, stopped, pulled the bike off of Ryan's leg, remounted and hauled ass for the rest of the moto.

They're posted somewhere up here. Dean Wilson took 250s overall and Tyler Wharton took 450s overall after trouble claimed Lemoine, Blake Wharton and Jimmy Albertson.

Magoo at Hangtown in 1979. Crashed with some guy off the gate at the 250 National and stopped to help the other guy before he took off.

He came around almost a lap down running just in front of Hannah. They blue flagged him and he responded by ripping a long one-handed wheelie down the straight flashing the peace sign. And then bailed big time sometime shortly after.

Classic Magoo.

At first glance I thought the rider was helping the downed rider with his "E-Stop" button. You know how those hot four strokes love to fire right up.

Class act!

Didn't Alessi help Tedesco up once instead of taking off again? And he had a championship on the line in that moto!

Keep in mind, Pritchett wasn't involved in the crash. He STOPPED and helped the guy. And they said sportsmanship was dead.

Being that I'm old and slow, I almost always slow down and ask if they are OK. If they say yes, then I'm on my way. I did have to stop once to help a guy.

I race mostly for fun, so I'd rather stop and make sure someone doesn't get hurt any further.

I bailed hard a few years ago on the first lap after getting the holeshot and was stuck under my bike. 3 riders behind me all stopped and got the scoot off me and got me up. once i realized the blood was comming from the bridge of my nose i got back on my scoot and took off. came around to the same spot and the first guy who stopped was still kicking his bike. he never finished, i felt pretty bad but felt good that 3 riders actually stopped to help.

When I broke my leg, the guy in front of me saw me down as he rounded the corner coming the other way. He cut the track and came back to see if I was okay!!

Thanks guy's for all the kind words.
What can I say i crashed on the first lap too, and I would want one of my buddies to do the same.
Pro challenge was actually my last race for a while.
Got a full time job and gonna try to go to college in January.

You did what you are supposed to.

Doesn't make you a hero, but ensures your reputation as a damn good human.

Wish we had more like you, son.

Good luck in school and keep doing good things.

Good luck to you.....make school another race/competition and you'll kick azz. None of those other guys in your classes have any idea what it takes to get to the starting line of a pro moto event. Your racing experience can translate into a drive and determination that'll make school a piece of cake.

Worked pretty well for me anyways.....
