I think that if RV can't run the pace of AC in the sand , he'll just shoot for the best finish possible and make up ground as best he can on the dirt surface type terrain. Any other tracks on this list have a sandy base? So 17 rounds....2 being sand , one with being kind of sandy. What other tracks you think RV may have some issues with? Usually wet , greasy , throttle control type tracks seem to hold him down a bit too.
Yes. RV can and will hold his own. Anywhere.

That won't bother Villopoto one bit. Trust me. Only once in his entire 450 MX career was he off the box. Never has he been out of the top five. I'd be shocked if, barring a mechanical, he is off the box or let alone out of the top five all season.

Dudes....I know how good RV is. I've grown up here in the NW watching him go up through the ranks.

What I think some of you guys are doing , is discrediting AC222's skill in the sand. Hell as far as that goes....ANY type of surface he races on. Like what they say about RV is " he has another gear "......I think AC222 does as well.

I think RV has a tad bit more raw speed.....but make no mistake , AC222 is the real deal and one bad MoFo on a dirt bike.

I'll be rooting for RV since he's an American and from the NW.......but I'd be foolsish to count out AC222 in any round.

He didnt "hire" rattray for no reason... He will exactly tell him what and how he needs to do stuff.
Maybe he wont win against cairoli but he will be good and prepared I guess.
He saw the last 2 sandy mxdn races and he probably doesnt wanna struggle like his countrymen.
I believe this all is so good prepared from his side, he's not like roczen who comes over with 17 years and everything is big and new.. He's a multiple champ and he will have his things sorted out.
We will see if its enough to beat TC and co, its gonna be good.

I'm old enough to remember when folks said LaPorte would get schooled in the sands of the Belgian GP.........

I think he ended up going 1-1 against the sand specialists.

I don't think Villopoto will need to win at Lommel to win the title, though. Just not do something to lose it there.

RV will practice there a long,long while leading upto the GP and should have it figured pretty good

People talk about Americans riding deep sand like they are F1 drivers in a MotoGP race, Do people forget that Barcia at Lommel who is not at the same level as RV nor does he have the style that suits sand anywhere near as good, got a 3rd!! Villopoto will be riding tracks like lommel regularly to train.
He will be ready, and he will be competitive on whatever surface he is put on.

I am just very glad i actually have a reason to watch GPs now, i am an avid mx fan and didn't miss a single AMA round this year even stayed up until 3-7am to watch most of the sx rounds live on a shitty stream.
Whereas i watched 1 moto at the opening round at Quatar where i fell asleep about half way through and then watched the last 250 round as i wanted to see if Herlings could wrap up the title with a broken femur, but besides that i wouldn't have wasted my time. This is exactly what GPs needed and i bet Luongo feels like he's been given a winning lottery ticket, unless he payed alot of it himself of course!

Great news for the fans and the sport!

Dungey beat him last season.

Dungey also has a margnally better record than RV at Southwick, on a 450 at least. But I think RV will do just fine at Lommel.

We could link photos all day, but my point is that villopotos practice track @ his HOME is SAND. It might not be the same mystical magical bottomless sand like in NDL, but I have a feeling he'll do just fine.
