Better to kill trees to make paper bags
That a question?
Tons and tons of card board is recycled into paper bags daily.

Bellingham, my little enviro- conscious town did this a year or so ago...

Oh shit you thought the world was coming to an end, i mean how could we possibly get though the day without a plastic bag to carry my groceries, or a plastic bag to carry my cheap plastic shit from Wal-mart..

I'm cool with it now.. and i don't have 5 million little plastic bags at home stuffed in a kitchen drawer.
i say Fuck plastic bags, get yourself a good every-day bag for all that stupid shit..

I live on a lovely little lake and birds and fish don't miss the stupid fucking plastic bags either..

Flame on plastic bag lovers, bunch of pussies!

Plastic bags are banned in Ashland too. It's really not a big deal to me either but now they charge $.10 per bag if you need a bag.

There is a neat little BMX track next to a skate park over in B-ham.

The plastic bag thing is getting a little out of hand. The other day I went to the store and bought 1 small item and the girl put it in a plastic bag that could fit 100 of them. I said I don't need a bag, god gave me these things called hands. They hand them out like it was Halloween.

Nobody seemed to have a problem re-using the plastic bags for things around the house 10 years ago.

I think it's a good sign that all the bad shit in life is going away, and we can worry about getting to many plastic bags.

Plastic bags can last up to 1,000 years in a landfill. If you knew the toxins that were released into the environment during this long decomposition - you might not be so keen on these plastic bags.

Trees, by the way, are a reusable resource.

Listen, I'm no tree hugger, but you have to be responsible. Plastic bags are bad, mmmkay.

I think it's an awesome idea. Come to think of it, I can't think of a good reason not to ban them

Yeah! I go to Target and by 13 items and walk out with ten freaking bags. As for the groceries at the supermarket, we switched to cloth bags 3 years or so ago.

Sometimes I'll go in and just grab a few avocados and put them in the plastic bag in the produce section. Then I'll go pay for them and they try to put them in another plastic bag. . . SMH. . .

Or when they ask if I want my milk in a bag. . . as if the convenient handle they come with doesn't quite work, well, as a handle. Makes me want to ask them to triple bag it just to be safe.

Here is where I struggle. I believe in being responsible but I don't want an entity as irresponsible as the government trying to tell me what is responsible and what isn't. There is nothing worse than those idiots in diesels flogging just for the sake of flogging. I don't trust the government to effectively deter these idiots, but I don't think they should be allowed to do it.

Plastic is derived from petrochemicals, could this be contributing to the high price of gas? We put a man on the moon but we don't have the technology to make biodegradable packaging? Seems odd.

I agree, there should be a better alternative, but I doubt plastic bags have anything to do with the price of gas...

Meanwhile nobody questions why some modern cars can still only get 20 miles per gallon. Really? That's as good as they can do? My 1986 Buick Regal T type got 20 miles per gallon. It would be good for the environment and economy if cars got better gas mileage but that would eat into the governments budget if we didn't buy as much gas. They act like they care about something when it won't effect their budget but don't give two shits about it when they're raking the money in.

Mileage standards have improved, and to your point, govt bitched about reduction in gas tax revenue.

Yea it's funny how that works out. I just had that thought yesterday when I saw a brand new Ford driving down the road with a window sticker price of 20k and it said it only got 20 mpg. I've heard they are looking to increase the gas tax to offset the decrease in revenue that came with better fuel mileage.

Yea, I don't buy any of that we can't do it bullshit. When I was in HS, I got to drive my sisters car a lot. 83' Nissan 280 ZX. It ran like a scalded ass ape and got 30 mpg. Inline 6 cyl, modeled off of the old 250 chevrolet 6 cyl of the 70's. Five speed, hydrolic clutch and all wheel disc brakes. 1- 3rd gear went 35 mph 75 mph, 105. Awesome Awesome car.
