Your post makes about as much sense as a painting of a whale and a dolphin getting it on. . . The times Dungey was aggressive in SX, he made the passes. There is more that goes into a championship than aggression levels. . . Aggression didn't win nor lose him the championship. Nice try though.

I think if Dungey could make it look innocent enough, he might slide out the rear wheel but I don't see him making a move as deliberate at Reed's move on JS7.

I remember him always having some trouble when he got all rad in SX last winter.

But our memories suck.

Yes , he isn't naturally a dirty/rough rider, he can't do it, he really sucked at it to be fair

Rd should play to his skills, as he always has, he's done ok from it previously

Just so happens that this time being nice isn't enough! Nice guys don't finish last but they do finish 2nd.

Some people have a "win at any cost" attitude. Wins for those people are few and far between.

Dungey appears the type who would not enjoy a title if it was won in a dishonorable fashion. A wide line? Not an issue. An aggressive pass? Expected. A deliberate take-out? Not his style, nor the style of most guys racing today. Edit: most CHAMPIONS racing today.

RC may have said "if you can't beat them, take them out". How many times did Ricky need to implement that rule? One of his hallmark moments was making an aggessive pass on McGrath, only to let him by the next corner. Ricky wanted to win "straight-up"; it was the honorable approach.

For the title? In the last round? I would try and explode Kenny if I was Dungey. You never want to hurt anyone or to see anyone hurt, but I would try to make sure I crashed him hard enough that his bike would be bent all to hell. Its for the damn championship!

I don't think Dungey will. I would.

Edit:

Should he play dirty he knows Ken would give it back, who knows where he ends up if that happens...DNF? Hurt? Really ?
Dirty and hard... Harder than usual are two different things.

Haven't we seen it before? Rd just got away as quick as possible for the win and let the chips fall, or am I mixing up my memories?

Hard but fair racing? Sure. But I think it's lame to try and crash someone out. It's not honourable and the sport is dangerous enough. I mean good grief there's more to life than MX. It would make me sick to see a young full of potential individual like Kenny (or anyone else) end up in a freaking wheel chair over what is - in comparison to all the other great things you'd hopefully do with your life - a single dumb unimportant title battle that'll soon be forgotten.

Even if Dungey did pull a takeout on Roczen (which he won't), it wouldn't matter anyway. Like others have pointed out, Kenny can get top 5 even with a small crash. The only way RD wins this thing is if Kenny seriously wads up or has a mechanical. If I was Ryan, I would be outside my motorhome doing a rain dance and hope for some redemption in the mud.

If Kenny loses a motor, the conspiracy theorists will be out in full force.

Just think how crazy it would be if Kenny had a legitimate mechanical DNF or if he and Dungey accidentally tangle and he finished way back.

Didn't RD get aggressive early this SX season ?

If you can't win, wreck somebody who can.Tongue J/K

I don't see RD doing anything differently than the entire MX season.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. Not only do you knock K-Roc down but you bring a pair of snippers and cut his start button wire while standing on his bike.

I don't think Dungey will try to take him down, the internet would implode.
Ask Decoster what he would do, I think you be surprised at the answer. Hannah's reply would be similar, and their Mom's would forgive them.
They both have many more championships than Kroc and Dunge.

Deliberately taking out a competitor does not demonstrate the guts or mindset of a champion, either. It demonstrates cowardice and desparation, which is why we won't see it from Ryan Dungey. But I don't think we're talking about take-out moves here; we're talking about aggressive, but clean, racing. Which everyone hopes to see.

Nailing someone so bad that his bike is basically scrap material while 100% guaranteeing not to disable the guy for life would be one heck of a move and a true work of art though

I think there are a lot of riders that would go for the takeout to win a championship, especially some of the old schoolers, and honestly I wouldn't blame them at all, but I don't think Dungey is one of them.

I think there is a good argument for both sides of the fence.
