yeah but apart from those 7 examples why doesn't anyone run it?
Maybe when they read the rule book they werent aware of the unwritten rule of not using the No.100 there for commiting the ultimate MX faux pa.
Still I bet they all feel a bit silly now and the AMA have issued some pretty hefty fines.

FYI, he's racing PIR Thursday night.
Really? I'll be damned. I'm going tomorrow night and next Thursday night for sure. Wouldn't miss the pro shootout for anything.

100 was a lucky number Mike Brown, helped him with the 125 MX title 2001, well that and Langston's rear wheel coming apart in the last moto, causing Langston to lose the title.

Lets not forget Tommy Searle.
Lets not forget Tommy Searle.

I was about 20 feet away from Langston when he pulled over to see his destroyed wheel. They were linked together in a heated battle, from what I remember (I was 12). I just remember Langston being so bummed... Love him or hate him, you had to feel for him in that situation. But Hey, that's racing! That's why you never know what can happen.

I also thought there was an unspoken rule for #'s 101 thru 109. Those numbers are typically used by a well established rider versus an unknown privateer.

I think you're right. But I think it's more like up to 115 or so....i think.

Guys I remember with these type numbers off the top of my head.

Hannah 100
Ben Townley 101
Chris Gosslar 102
Tortelli 103 ( and Reed too )
Shae Bently 104
Hughes 105
# 108......damn I can't remember! Green bike I think.
JMB 111
Ryan Huffman 112
I think Bradshaw and maybe Dowd 114

I remember throughout the past 30yrs or so , they would hand out one of those numbers for a past champion , or possibly a high ranked GP rider when they came over for some one-off races. I haven't had much coffee this morning so my brain aint working at 100% yet.....I'm sure I forgot quite a few.

100, 101 and 111 are typically reserved for nationally ranked riders returning from injury or guest appearances by foreign riders of notoriety. (Or their first seasons as AMA riders.)
I've seen 102, 103, etc. being run when 100, 101 and/ or 111 were already being used.
