Ummm yea it will be easy to say he isn't..... 15 titles by the age of 26 for RC, 10 straight outdoor titles as well the last 5 SX titles he competed. Lets put the pipe down.

Okay, maybe not the GOAT, but certainly the GOHT!

Greatest of HIS time if RV can put the euros in their place.

Are you still taking bets?

Steve, DV, I had a tip and wrote a column on April 14th that did mention of that rumor (RV selling his Florida property)...

At that time, there was zero talk about RV going to Europe, I'm sure.

So the selling of his property may have been relevant of him already planning a retirement, yes, but not a move to Europe, clearly not (then).

Kawi Europe letting Paulin go to Honda (not exercising their right of refusal) is actually a more relevant (current) sign than the Florida property selling, which was happening anyway !

The way I see it, the Europe deal probably popped out as a (B-plan) possible compromise between the parties involved in RV's existing contracts for 2015 (himself, Kawi, Monster, Thor).

If RV was not willing/ready to return and fulfill these obligations, all parties had a problem.

If he goes to the GP's, all parties (except probably Kawi USA, but including Kawi Europe) have some sort of acceptable compensation in this new deal.

This was already on the table a couple of weeks ago and I mentioned it somewhere on this forum but was impressed at how certain the sharpest guys out here (Steve + JT$, even FTE) were that it was not (ever) going to happen...

Maybe RV was totally "closed" to that option but is slowly changing his mind about it, as his people describe him its benefits ??

All this reminds me of the "at this point I'm riding the Nationals" deal.

Too many serious insiders (not Luongo-propaganda people) are talking about it, with details popping out (such as RV's people requesting Tyla as his teammate + his own technical people in the team), for this theory to be 100% speculation !

No decision is probably made at this point and, ultimately, it will be RV's decision, that can range from a half 2015 US season to a full GP season to a retirement (who still believes he'll do a full US season in 2015 ??).

Yes, RV to GP's would be one of the strangest things to ever happen in our sport.

But from RV not racing the 2014 outdoors (after denying it) to a probable RV/Aldon split, there has been already quite a lot of strange things happening around this great champion, lately.

I think it would be one of the greatest. With a German about to win our 450 outdoor title I would love seeing an American like RV racing MXGP. Also if not for Musquin's injuries and CPs time off we might have been seeing a Frenchman or two battling for the 250 championship this year.

If this Euro trend continues will we have to start saying Americans are the best MX racers in the world except for the Euros that win our National championships? Seriously hell yes I want to see RV go to MXGP and lay down some American wood and show the world who has the fastest racers!

I like that a lot better than not having a top American in MXGP.

It would also be a lot of a heck better than seeing your #1 guy retire prematurely because of burn out, wouldn't it ?

Nearly all the best riders were racing GPs in the early 70s. Nearly all the best riders are racing in the USA now. I'm not a huge RV fan but there's only one rider he needs to beat consistently, maybe DeSalle on occasion.

Did I just hear correctly? I was watching the telecast of the MXGP and I caught the last end of the announcers saying something about making room for RV. It was almost like they were hesitant to say anything.

Nevermind, they said that was the rumor that RV was coming to Europe, but said they thought he would stay in the U.S.

Ryan seems to be a fairly smart guy, maybe he is just bored out of his mind with the same American tracks for the last 9 years?

He could sure shut up a lot of Cairoli fans...

Racing the GP would be a lot like retirement for RV.

If RV went to the GPs (I hope he does), how huge would that be for the MXGP series and viewership? Honestly, I'll watch the GPs if I happen to catch it on TV, but if RV were in the series you can bet It'd be at the top of my list of programs to watch.

Yes, we all know the GPs doesn't need US fans to survive and are just doing fine how it's currently set up, but with RV, you could potentially double or triple viewership. Massive amounts of $$! In addition it's a entirely new challenge for RV and could be the spark he needs to get the drive back to race.

If RV goes to Europe I bet you they put Leriop, Lommel and Valknswald (sorry if spelling is off) on the 2015 Schedule and possibly add a couple more sand tracks!

If you have a DVR and aren't set up to record the GPs you are missing out on some unreal tracks and excellent racing. Paul Malin is a former GP competitor who does the announcing and OTOR's Adam Wheeler does the color. Malin is a TM400 type announcer while Wheeler is a 450 four stroke with a flywheel weight kind of guy so they make a good match since they're complete opposites.

I watch with my MXGP-TV subscription from time to time but its tough to catch live (12 hour time difference most of the time) so use a DVR for fail safe.

RV loves to race - not crazy about all business obligations. If he makes great money, races less races without all the media bullshit..... why not.

RV2..... BRING the world title to the US. And then spank their asses at the MXDN!

I makes it extremely relevant to US market - I am a fan of AC222 and catch a race on an occasion. If RV races it, I am following it.

Jt$ - just saw your comment. Who makes more guaranteed money per race? AC222 or RV2 (RV2 is obligated to race 30 races per year (17 Supercross + 12 Nationals + MEC)

You would think so, but the X factor is all the stuff to deal with during the week.

Traveling and living in Europe is not easy at first , as we 'mericans are spoiled because everything is plentiful and available here. Things like food and furniture and stuff we take for granted are not just down the street. Whole Foods? Haha Good luck.

Dealing with all that shit takes your mind off of training and racing, ask Ryno about living in Italy sometime...

It`s not up to "them" to put or not to put a track on a schedule. It cost almost half a million to the track to purchase a license, and that`s just a license. After that comes all the usual expanses with organizing an event. Not everyone is willing or capable to come up with that kind of money.

Yes, that far away country called Europe is the center of the third world. He would have to sleep on the ground and eat what he can hunt in the woods - no let's say jungle.

Both of you should go to see a psychologist to check your paranoia.
If you really think they would even think a second about changing the tracks to handicap Villopoto, you are f**** nuts!!!

I'd take most of you're points and agree,,it's a lot of the same evverywhere you go in the US,but depending where he'd based himself would be key,RV would have the best possible people around him though

Zach was in England which had lots of advantages obviously language and people are much more alike (insert joking) The travel implications more difficult and so is time spent in Europe, you'd also see how much the Brits differ from Euros Laughing

Food is much easier to access now with justa smartphone, shops can often be in town centres but there are way more places on the outskirts like the US.

Food standards across the board are higher in Europe due to legislation actually too

Oh Yeah, and we drive on the "Right" side of the road here too Tongue

Exactly what I was going to say!

They don't have fruits vegetables and meats of any kinds or Ikea's in any of the European Countries... They all live like hobbits there!!!!

Do you guys really think that for a world class athlete like RV he won't have any resources at his disposal for his diet and living needs????

Really???????? Blink
