2010-12 Yamaha YZF450?

Edited Date/Time 7/3/2014 1:44pm
Anybody know how good these bikes were? Thinking of picking one up seem to always be the best condition used 450 for sale. Send some pics of your 2010-12 yzf450s if you can. Thanks!

I am still racing my 2012. I have the rad lowering kit and the engine re-locator. I honestly think the taller you are, the more you will like the bike.
I'm 6'3" and very comfortable on it.

Great motors, great suspension, handling is a little... different. From what I've been told.

But yeah you can lower/change the angle of the triple clamp/forks, lower the radiator, and get the engine spacers. That seems to help. I talked to Ben Lemay before Anaheim 1 in 2013 and that's what his team was doing to improve the handling.

I have a 13 and like it. The front end does feel light at times, but with some clicker adjustment and raising tubes I gained a lot from stock settings. I had a RMZ450 and the head shake would freak me out, even though it turned like no other bike I ever had. Im mortal (slow) though, and any bike would be fine for me. And if I were savy enough to post a pic you could check out how badass it looks with my custom retro graphics by Bentley graghics out of MI.

ive got one, for racing purposes my advice would be to consider a skinier bike, also the front end is real light but other than that a pretty solid bike. at 65kg (dunno what that is in pounds lol) its not the easiest thing to throw around at my weight so thats the main reason i dont like the width. although mine just shit a bottom end at roughly 130 hours, they seem to be pretty strong engine wise in the long run. i know people that have hit 200 hours with replacing the piston once and regular services.

Pros hated it. Averages Joes love it. This was the bike James Stewart always crashed on. He hated it (the chasis) so much he eventually left Yamaha while still under contract.I've also heard a couple of pros say that an average weekend warrior would love the bike and wouldn't even be able to tell the difference. Unless you ride like a pro you can never base their opinion on a bike. Yamahas are legendary for being bulletproof. My '09 450 has some serious hours on it with no issues. Stock suspension is amazing. I would never buy anything but a Yamaha. With how expensive 4 strokes are, reliability goes a long way for me.

With just a little set-up work and some easy mods, my 13 is the best bike I have owned in the last 40 years... I consider myself a JS7 fan, however I would certainly not pass judgement on a bike based on his success with it...Smile

I love the bike! I feel it works best for taller riders. Just get your suspension done and you'll be set.
