So, You own one of the few factory teams in MX. You still have the "top dog" on contract for the next coming 2 seasons.

Suddenly the top rider goes on vacation and you're just ok with that? He can stay under contract and get paid while doing so, and you have to get some second rate rider to fill in. (no offence to Metty, but he's no top dog.)

Why is RV allowed to do so, why is he allowed to do this while on contract and why didn't Monster Kawasaki get a solid rider under contract instead off a fill-in? What am I missing?

Lamecake, I feel like you might not understand how this works. Do I? Not really, but that's why I didn't make a topic saying that RV is on vacation.

His physical condition shouldn't be a surprise to the team. Just wondering why he isn't replaced fully.

Let me put it differently.. Cairoli needs surgery. My bet is KTM will spend top dollar to fill in the spot for a championship contender.

Metty is 5th in points, name 1 available rider you think would be doing better ?

Why would you replace the 4 time defending Supercross champion?

Haha.....

OK...1st.......what other top guy was available to fill in for RV during the nationals? Metty is doing just fine and getting sufficint amount of TV time and putting in some pretty good solid rides.

He sits in 5th friggin place with 115 points , with only Roczen , RD , Stewart and TC41 in front of him.......and you don't think he's a good fill in rider? As far as I can tell.....he should be sitting on a team ( any team! ).....with a full factory ride and a contract for next year.

2nd....RV is taking some vacation time because that's the only thing the dude can do right now! I don't even think he's started rehab on that knee yet and as of just one week ago , he was still using his crutches to get around places.

Did you even think to read up.....on anything.....before you made this thread?

Im shaking my head at this topic but I'll bite. As 500guy just pointed out, who is going to do better than Metty that is available? If you're trying to say that Kawasaki should have a different rider than Villopoto period... once again, who? Replace the multi-time champ with who? Also, he is on a 3 year contract, meaning they would have needed to sign someone else back in 2012 heading into the 2013 season.

Ummm....what?

Maybe he's drained from it.....that is possible for sure. But what the hell does that have to do with your questions above?

I don't think RV digs the training and all the other brutal stuff that comes along with it.....but the dude does his job , and does it very well. Kawasaki didn't hire him because he loves to ride dirt bikes. They hired him to win championships.......

So i would also say he's done his job better than any one single person on this planet. In this country anyways.

Here's my question (and I'm sure there will be plenty of heat for it) and it's from a different angle -

He's under contract to race the Nationals for 2014. He is unable to do so because he had surgery and is recuperating.

During this recuperation period he is well enough to travel to Europe.

Question - if he's able to do that, why doesn't Kawasaki have him in the pits at the Nationals doing PR work? He's the reigning champ and one of the most popular riders on the circuit, so it seems like you'd want to have him front and center for the public.
It seems difficult to explain how your top rider is well enough to be travel to Europe but isn't well enough to be in the pits. Other teams have injured riders in their pits signing and such while they're down, so it isn't unheard of.

Is there a clause that has him on unpaid leave right now? Because if Kawasaki is paying him his contracted amount and not getting anything of value in return during this time it just doesn't make sense. We aren't talking a $10/hr contract.
Maybe this has already been answered somewhere else. If it was then i missed it, and if someone could post a link to it I would appreciate it.
There might be a very valid reason but I don't know what it is - that's why I'm asking.

It's a legit question so please try to answer it in the same spirit it was asked.

Exactly what I was aiming for. I've never seen a factory guy been able to skip work like that. And it seems that he's free to do it the entire season?

So, what you are really saying is that Kawasaki should replace RV with AC222? Brilliant!!

We do not have access to his contract. So how are we supposed to answer that question? Call up RV and demand to see his contract so you can rest at night.

That doesn't seem to stop people from posting most of the stuff on here. Why should this be any different?

It's easy to get smart alec response but accurate, factual, useful info is as scarce as hens teeth.

And thanks for reading the last last line of my post - you contributed much to the conversation.

Can't ask questions here with negative feelings towards RV. All the babies go boo-hoo.

To me all the events feed the negative speculations/conspiracy theories, hence the questions aimed at the team/contract.

But my question doesn't have a negative undertone - I'm really curious as to why the situation is the way it is.

We plan on being at Muddy Creek and I had a friend asking if Poto, Tomac, Millsaps, etc., were going to be there. Told him I didn't know and hadn't heard anything concrete about most of them.

This seemed like a good time to ask about Poto.

So Lamecake? What are you doing on your day off? Does your boss know? What does you work contract say about off hours? Don't like me asking? Didn't think you would, RV probably doesn't think it's any of your business where he goes either.

Just throwing this out there. What if this knee surgery is staged? You see him on crutches, you seen his pics going under the knife, bla bla bla. You don't think they could pull that off, if they wanted too? Now do I think RV had surgery, yes I do. Just throwing that out there.

First, I'm a bum. Second, why let the champ with your sponsors and logos etc. be gone prime season?
