When I see ma800, I see a probably very decent kid in his heart, one that has had to overcome some, ahem, personal obstacles in his whole life. I really feel for the guy and wish him the best. I cannot understand the hard-on some of you fucking guys have to see him fail or constantly berate him or diminish his skills. It must make a some of you keyboard factory riders feel awesome to keep rubbing his nose in your personal shitpiles. Same thing you guys do with Jeff Alessi.

Barcia has had one season on a 450. nothing compared to mikes 10 (i think?), so i wouldn't rank him above. I don't know the age of all you guys commenting so you might not remember this but... Mike has been runner up in an outdoor series twice, he should have won the championship at least once but unluckily crashed out. His debut was at 16 on a freakn Crf 450! He was mixing it up with Stewart and Carmichael when they were in their prime.

The guy kicks ass outdoors. period.

"Mixing it up with stewy and Carmichael in there prime Tongue

Never saw him in the same section as rc and he was really mixing it up with James when he 24-0d him haha.

Do you also not realize that the year when alessi crashed out (at the third damn race might I add...) he was racing reed and Andrew short for the title. Don't get me wrong, bad dudes. But not like the 450 class is that wide open anymore, to get on the box you have to be killing it.

10 years in 450? I think it's closer to 5. I don't know why it really matters though to be honest.

Guys I'm not saying alessi sucks, he doesn't. But he is not a top ten in the world rider, 250 or 450, IMHO.

Mike was 2nd outdoors in 2012 when everybody and there mother was out injured. Once everybody came back in 2013, where did he rank? And Mike was 2nd in 2007 when Ricky raced part time, James went out injured, before RV moved up, etc… Andrew Short came 3rd that year and was runner up in 2009, do you consider Short one of the best outdoor riders because of those 2 seasons? And like Gringoe said, Mike wasn't exactly mixing it up with Stewart and Carmichael. He raced with them sure but they were busy winning, not worrying about Mike.

As for your view that Barcia only having one year (and placing 3rd behind RV and RD, two guys Mike has never finished ahead of when healthy) is less than Mike's 10 years outdoors- I guess you can view it as you want. I see it as Barcia on a 450 for his 1st year, already being better than Mike, and Barcia will only get better. I guess if you want to add up all of Mike's points for the past 10 years and compare them to Barcias one year, then yeah Mike has more points, but I think others will agree that a rookie beating a veteran means the rookie has the potential to get better. I don't see Mike getting much better. Neither does his team owner, they know he will never win a championship in the U.S. and that's why they went to Canada this year.

This is not an anti-Mike Alessi rant. I'm just pointing some things out. Mike is one of the best riders in the world and I'd love to be half as fast as Mike on his slowest day, but he's not one of the top 5 fastest guys in the world. RV, KROC, RD, JS, Cairoli, Herlings, Barcia, Desalle, etc are all faster than him and that's being very generous.

I will define mixing it up as: leading a race for a bit and eventually falling behind rc and js7 to take 3rd and some times falling back more.Wink his first pro ride was in 2004 in the 250 (now 450), but he did do a season in the lites i think, i was only taking a ruff guess. 2007 he came super close to winning the title on a Ktm 350 but lost it at the last round to Grant Langston. 2009 he had the red plate when he crashed and had won the 4 previous motos in a row, and had beat short and reed in every race that season i'm pretty sure. but as they say, "you are only as good as your last race"Wink I don't think he would be a title threat this season either, but he would be a pretty safe bet for top 10 by the end of the season.

edit: "top 10"

Because many of these mouthbreathing cumchugglers can't ride for shit. They know it and can't do shit about it.

Congrats to mike and his team for the domination of caleb falconni and the rest of the squids up yonder.

Mike is the fastest 450f rider without any factory support. Although I would love to see him racing in the States it makes sense to race the Canadian National series. Congrats to Team Alessi for a well deserved 1st overall.

5th, 17th, 37th who cares. Can anyone argue that he is a more talented rider than 99.999% of the world and yesterday he swept motos against a very talented Colton in a field where a SX winning Josh Hill could not get on the podium? I get if he had knocked someone over or went off the track the boards would have lit up.

There is so much stupid in this thread it hurts, MA800 is the only guy to ever beat RD for a moto win without a factory bike. Whoever thinks MA800 is not top 20 should be banned from all moto forums, the guy is a podium threat no matter how stacked the field is in MX and has won 5 overalls and a bunch of Moto's.

So much stupid is right, JMart wins 2 nationals and Gringhole has him ranked better than MA? Sounds like he's more of an Alessi hater and trying to find anyone to justify to rank ahead of Mike? So dumb

On another note congrats to Team Motoconcepts Vince Friese for his 3-1 finishes for 1st overall in the MX2 class, looks like they cleaned house in Calgary yesterday.

Way to go Mike. You're a shoe in for CA championship.
Hope Teddy Maier can somehow get a win this year up there.

I don't think it's a stretch to say Alessi can be top 10 in the world outdoors. He's fast.... and I believe if you call him 5th best here, that puts him about 9th in the world. No way to measure that but that's my opinion.

One thing is certain...he's the best in Canada right now. Gotta laugh at the jizzmitts that said he'd have problems winning in canada.

Good point! It's funny a few that you see on here blasting MA in every thread are no where to be found today. 1-1 with a come from behind ride shut their traps.

Stewart, Dungey, Roczen are the only 3 national riders that can possibly finish ahead of Mike on a weekly basis. And with his ability to holeshot most motos he would on occasion finish ahead of any of those 3 .

44 yrs in MX here......yes I'm old

"One of the sports finest riders" implies the world to me

I'm not saying if you put these riders in a race alessi would get last because that's not how racing works. This is just who I rank as a better overall outdoor rider (250 or 450 is completely irrelevant)

Rd
Rv
Js
Tomac
Canard
Barcia
Josh grant
Reed
Dessale
Cairoli
Paulin
Van horbeek
Herlings
Bagget
J Martin
Pourcel

17th isn't bad.
And..... I would put in Aussie's
Metcalfe
Moss
Moss
Waters

and sheep fucker BT101

What does that make him 22nd

Couldn't agree with Ing more. Metcalfe, yeah I'm okay with that. In his prime, Ben Townley for sure. But Moss, Moss, and Waters- no way no how. And I'm not even a Mike Alessi fan. But outdoors he does have skills.

I'd say RV, Dungey, JS, Barcia, Tomac, Kenny, Cairoli, Herlings, Desalle, Canard Metcalfe maybe and a few others. Mike's maybe top 15 or top 20 outdoors.
