2015 YZ250

6/4/2014 10:35am
Ill have the first one in my shop then.

Pipe: 290
Vforce: 120. Everyone screams for the come from factory add on. But you think the Japanese will bolt it on for $150 without adding their "handling" price to the overall msrp?
Boyesen ignition/clutch covers : 120

Do that to a four stroke. Oh wait the pipe would be $1,000. Nevermind.

Thank god they finally gave em a face lift! Ill be real pissed tomorrow if this is all BS.

And why would jgr be so excited about them ? There won't be one linig up to a pro national anytime soon....

The KTM certainly doesn't have the edge in suspension that's for sure!

Besides id take VASTLY superior suspension over a reed cage I can buy for $150 or less and KTM has better brakes right? OOOOO that's another sub $150 fix, throw in some porting for another $300 tops and you have a bike far better than the KTM. Ive ridden both and can honestly say the YZ is a better bike on the track.....so $600 and I have IMO a better bike than the KTM, plus the MSRP on the KTM is much higher than the YZ, at least $600 higher right?

A 10 old design? That may be true but it is an EXCELLENT 10 year old design that is still relevant today/ The suspension is the same stuff that comes on even the most current YZF's. The frame is legit and the engine is a 250 2 stroke that is about as good as it gets, I don't see many areas for improvement on an already excellent engine.

I don't know what so many of you are complaining about as you must be bored bec, like GuyB said, just wait until they release the technical specs....NOBODY knows what improvements they have made to the bike other than visual aesthetics, there could be a host of changes to the engine that might put it right with the KTM, then what? Everyone has been asking for "At Least" a plastic update and to keep the 2 strokes alive so Yamaha did and now its suddenly not good enough for some of you? I have an 06 RM250 and that bike is still one of the most amazing bikes ive ever ridden and just so its out there, Id take a leftover '07-14 for that matter. I personally like riding the 250 2 strokes a lot more than a lazy ass 450 but that's just me and that's why I see more value in the bike as it is.
Sums it all up.

Good post.

Damn, The KTM looks 10 years more advanced than this Yamaha ... Oh wait, it is

How exactly is it more advanced?

I'm just talking about the looks (it might not came out that way). The KTM is like from the future while the Yamaha's looks are from way back ...

A modern front tire would actually be an enormous upgrade from the Dunlop that has been specced on the Yz for the last 10 years.

If you like 'em? Ride the heck out of what you've got, or buy another one, new or used.

You might also wait to see what else is cooking on the Yamaha, first.

If you want to see an exotic two-stroke in action, your best bet is to hit an Endurocross event.
Everybody missed GuyB answer?

Am I wrong or the major 2 stroke update will be the WR250?

If they do make a two stroke WR...I hope it's more race bike than trail bike (the current WR's are trail bikes)...put an electric start on it...that would be sweet.

Thankfully Yamaha is still producing smokers and I'll take the YZ's suspension all day long over more hp. If only the other jap brand's would join in,,,,,,,,,,, then we would have a full on piss'n contest.

Plastic is new. Frame looks like same design, but looks different and new. The forks are different. The motor looks different on the left side. I'm ready to upgrade my 11 250SX

Maybe I missed it but I didn't see a picture of the 250's left side to see where the motor is different?!

Is that a cycra sticker on the shock body?

Just remember, these are pics of the Europe site. Remember how different the stock 2013 & 2014 looked from Australia? Might be slightly different from ours (North America). Honestly I never minded the 06-14 design. For me the BNG's each year were enough to keep me wanting one. I know I constantly preach to my friends and on here about how you should buy an 06 and dump cash into it than buy a new one, but I would buy one if I had the money. Black rims for 2015 would have been enough to please me. Might end up buying an 06 sometime soon instead of a truck and making it look like a brand new 2014. Cant wait to see what they have to show us though!

I think by "excotic" hes not meaning a Yamaha, and he means something new and fun that were not used to. I think hes referring to the Beta 250RR of Cody Webb and anyone else that runs a GasGas/ Beta smoker in endurocross. GuyB, am I close? Smile

Did anyone notice the airbox is huge and they dont show the left side of the bike? My guess is direct injection.

Those wrinkles in the seat cover are really bugging me Laughing But damn those bikes are sexy, THE ultimate woods machine, right in front of a KTM 250XC Wink I hope these YZ's are real, but I have my doubts. The more I look, the more I think its iffy. I guess we'll know soon.
