CR250 carb swap-help now!!

Ok so I am putting in the air Stryker and she is a bastard to get in, and the right side of the intake barely feels like it is grabbing. I have a v-force Reed in there. Is this normal?

try...
loosening the clamp on carb manifold...
then slide to carb back into the air boot and tighten that clamp...
then push carb back into manifold and tighten clamp....

It's more the angle and whether I have enough bite on the right side. Just want confirmation as I have had it every which way! Thanks for your help though. I know many on here have made this switch.

Be a little more specific. What year CR are you dealing with and where did the carb come from (like what model bike?) If it's a 2004, and you got a 2000 CR twist top, it will not fit nice and straight. It fits, but it's different.

then pull the carb out of the manifold as needed..... till it is in the boot properly....

To be honest, on My KX250 it is easier to pull the subframe off to get the carb on and off! It only takes like 10 minutes and might be easier!

I did take the subframe off and mounted it front end first, then reassembled the subframe and the airboot fit just fine. It seems to fit ok there just isn't a ton of bite at the front end. It is a new unit from JD . Maybe my imagination. Just would like confirmation!

Yes, it is a tight fit. yes, it does not sit perfectly straight. Its fine. I was worried about this too....just put it in there as far as you can, and clamp her down. No problem.

You're gonna love it, I put a JD jet PWK in my 05' CR125 and it rips. The Mikuni TMX (with the TPS connected) has a more 'punchy' feel to it, where as the PWK without the TPS is more contained, feels easier to wring the bike out, and bottom end throttle response is much better (if that even exists for a 125).

Also gotta give props to JD jetting, my aircrew came out while riding, dunno where but it didn't take long for my bike to bog and eventually shut off. Took me a minute to figure out why it wouldn't run until I took a closer look. It was gone. I'm not sure if the spring was not holding it against the threads or if I just had it a couple too many turns out, either way... Anyway I called him up, told him what happened and he had me a new one shipped (with a spring) and some cool litter stickers on my postal package by my door in three days. Not bad.

I just did my 02 cr250 and it was a bitch. I had the same issue. i had to loosen my subframe, wiggle the front of the carb on then wiggle the airbox on. After its on, tighten the clamp on the airbox. I then had to pry the one into the front boot with a screw driver to get it to sit into the boot farther.

I can put them in in about 2 or 3 minutes and don't loosen the subframe at all. The trick is to fold the airboot down and to the left under the subframe. Put carb in front boot fully tighten then unfold rear airboot back into place. The key is light grease on the slide surfaces and being willing to fold your airboot downward at the out let to carb damn near 180 degrees. I call that boot my bitch because it does what I say lol. I rate this job a 1 on the scales of difficulty out of 10. It took me 10 or 15 times having it out to develop said method. Is super easy now. If u are tightening the airboox boot anything but last u are doing it the hard way.lol

Yeah i usually have an issue of doing things the hard way.
