One thing to take away from the MXGP game is this, the ability to move the rider independent from the bike.

You can power slide and when the bike starts to slide out you can correct it with moving the riders weight.

I do think the scrub sucks. You scrub and it throws you straight into an endo on every jump so that blows.

But I can see some improvements making this game a lot better.

They do need supercross though. GPs get boring after a while.
Yeah, it drives me nuts when I scrub and it lands front end down and actually costs you a fraction of a second.

I wish these GP tracks were in Reflex! But I am definitely willing to keep going with MXGP as they improve it and hopefully release some patches soon to fix the online game play.

I hope they do as well.

There are some good points and some bad. But they at least put out a game with replica tracks and thats a good start.

I hope they release a new game every year and it improves each time. That will at minimum push the developers of the MXvsATV series to step up their game.

MXGP is by far the best mx game I ever played. Milestone did a great job with all the real teams, riders, tracks and series. The replay is amazing. I am already looking forward to the improvements milestone will do for next years MXGP game. 8 stars out of 10.
Not a bad game other than people cheat everywhere online. The spline work is crappy at best. I already said the hell with it. Plus, it's summer. Riding a real bike is more fun and doesn't leave much time for games.

IMO the only way to play MXGP is first person view. It is very realistic. Most of the other mx games that have been out through the years you cannot play first person view. The sound could certainly be better but the graphics and gameplay are top notch.
If you want realism, MXGP isn't it. MX Sim blows it out of the water. Yeah, yeah...it's for PC...it's too hard. I've heard it all so no need to repeat it whomever is thinking of doing so. And there is new replica tracks every week...FOR FREE.

I haven't gone thru this whole thread, but I did have an interesting observation yesterday.

I was watching the MXGP from Spain on CBS Sports Network, and I sorta noticed that each time Cairoli or Desalle came around, I felt like I really recognized them after watching so many MXGP gameplay videos and trailers. It's that kind of subconscious association that really makes the games worth their weight from a marketing standpoint. That's why (and I know this is difficult) but just about anything short of a fully official, licensed look is just a waste of time. The same goes for other sports games, where the venues and athletes are recreated in a realistic fashion, you develop a sort of familiarity from playing the games and seeing the images.

Just my $.02

I agree.

I was watching another GP and knew the track just by looking at it from playing the game.

Like you said, the value of having true to life tracks and bikes makes it worth it, from a marketing aspect.

That is the purpose of this thread. If someone would do it right...with the full license, all the teams, bikes, riders, replica tracks, points series....do a NBA2k14 of our sport....it would sell like hotcakes and also, more importantly really help our sport grow.

Look at MXGP. I know several people in the industry and they told me that MXGP has sold VERY VERY well. And we all know Supercross is popular worldwide. Much more popular than the MXGP series.

It would sell and make money. And open up new fans to our sport, most importantly.

This is all true.

And for those that think DC is too busy, that may be true but this is a business opportunity plus it would help the growth of the nationals.
I admit I'm not much of a video game player... I've owned an Atari, a Super Nintendo, and a PS2... But, the only people I see and hear of playing mx or sx games, are riders. Everyone that I know or have known, that has tried an mx game, that did not ride, had no interest in it. They wanted to race cars because that's what they know... Or they want to shoot and maim, because that's what they wished they knew.

Are these games big for non riders, and I've just seen and heard of the odd guys out?

Business opportunity... yeah.

Growth of the nationals?? Huh

So many people rip on MXGP but honestly it is a fun game. I have played about every mx game that has been out there....from MCM to Alive to some of the old McGrath /Supercross on PS2 and Excite Bike etc on Nintendo. The game itself has some fun races and the inside lines are relatively fun. For a second motocross game out of Milestone I think they are doing good. Another version or two it will be a great game.

MX vs ATV Supercross should be a decent game and hopefully if people support them fully we should start getting some solid games again...both mx and supercross.

The MXGP game is super detailed as far as sponsors, teams, riders, and tracks go for the most part. The most detailed MX game to date in that respect. Makes all the sponsors and teams look very well represented. Physics are really good as well. First person view on this one is amazing. Even with 14 or so tracks, the game does not get too boring unless you go on a tear and play it non-stop for days.

Personally, I haven't followed the GPs as much as I'd like to in the past. Now though after playing the game, I feel a closer attachment to that series now and I follow it much more closely than before. So for me, the game did a great job of showing off the series very well. Clean, fun, and exciting game play.

In a perfect world, updates would be great for this one. Not all the GP tracks are on there as well as riders (no Rattray or Husqvarna team riders - but they were last minute fill ins when the game probably finished development). So, maybe in those areas, the game would be awesome but it's to plug out and market the series in a positive and exciting light, which it did succeed in doing. Plus there hasn't been a new MX game out in years so this was a plus all round.

Now if there was a game for the US Nationals as detailed and worked as MXGP.....that would be so awesome!

i thought for a long time i wanted an mx simulation game...

but i don't. i want a fun moto game that i can play for hours on end without getting sick of it. Reflex is fun for a couple hours and then it get's stale.

i'll hook up my ps2 every now and then and play MX Unleashed for a few days straight. love that game. tons of tracks, tons of series, tons of gear and etc... MXvsATV Unleashed was tits too.

looking forward to the Nordic reboot.

in my opinion, the replica nationals tracks are a must (also some added tracks to have at least 17 tracks)... replica SX tracks are no big deal to me, just some actually fun tracks.

It's funny I do recognize the names of mxgp so I'm guessing watching actual gp races I would be able to follow who the riders are. What channel are those races on in the US?

yeah man I agree I had a motogp game that I played a heap, then I could tell what track they were at by the corners if I missed the start of a race on TV (does that sentence make any sense?) and it made watching the races that much cooler almost like I could relate to the riders haha.. Actually I think it was Cal Clutchlow that said to get used to the tracks he would play the game
that shit is kinda cool I reckon

Edit: I'm gonna head into town one of these days to order it
