It wasn't heroin that made him blow his head off it was Prozac.

I still play multiple Nirvana songs on my guitar on a daily basis. Just really raw live music. I'm not on drugs but I can relate to some of his songs. A large majority of the music industry are or were on drugs and some of your favorites could be worse junkies than he was so that is mute. Try embracing the talent or skills of people instead of just bashing anything that is not your taste people that goes with riders too. lol I think Cobain and Staley had quite a few more great songs to come.

I will reserve my sympathies for those more worthy. Those who dont get a choice. Those dealt a bullshit hand in the card-game of life.

The same community that says that that child has a disease says that addiction is a disease. But why listen to the thousands of experts who have studied addiction, its effects on the brain, and what causes addiction when we could listen to your uniformed opinion?

Those that call addiction a "disease" generally have a monitory hand in the game. It is big business. Doesn't make addiction any less horrific just accurate.

An addict sticks a needle in their arm by CHOICE. A child who comes down with cancer had no say in the matter. Comparing the kid in the picture with Cobain? Or losers like him?

Wow.

Wow.
I guess you would know. I take it, you are a qualified medical doctor who has done the relevant research in the area of addiction?

If you don't mind, can you point me to some of the research you've done such as peer reviewed journals, or relevant experience in the medical field?

Very true..

These 3 operators have all expired.

Bottom 2 from a H overdose.
Top Tier 1 operator was killed on an op while doing something very brave.
He struggled with drugs/needles for many years even when he was in Devgru.

I don't think anyone in here would have the balls to even breath the word loser around their teammates or families.
I'd say they all made bad choices - but I sure as fuck wouldn't call them losers or stereotype them.

Cobain on the other hand.
I'd say he was a fragile but talented/successful guy whom also made bad choices.

Seems like it is less about him and more about the fact that he may have been murdered and the murderer hasn't been brought to justice.

He wasn't murdered. It was suicide. Maybe assisted suicide but suicide just the same.

why is it anytime there is a murder people feel someone has to pay?

I'm of the opinion that sometimes people die. Let's move on.

Aside from all the pandemonium above, Heroin makes the best music!! I love music by junkies.

Layne Staley was another great songwriter that liked to needle up his arms.

As far as it goes, I think a lot of musicians who OD are considered better than they actually are. I firmly believe Sublime (Bradley Nowell) and Nirvana are 2 perfect examples of this. Sublime made its living off of stoners.
I'm the furthest from a stoner, but I love Sublime.

Fascinating topic and most controversial also...I’m a fan of great music of all genres….and clearly a bunch of these musicians had serious issues. Was it the issues that caused them to sing their deepest thoughts or was it the drugs that they took or that was prescribed drugs in some cases that created the powerful music we go to listen to?

I feel bad for all the people who worship someone that can't handle life.

Hank Williams,Kieth Whitley,Cobain, Chris Farley, there is a long list of talented people with mental problems and addictions.

Sucks they are gone but I don't plan on building any shrines for them.

Choosing to use drugs is not a disease , You can't catch drug use.

I think the problem is that most people don't understand the definition of disease.

You don't "catch" MS, either.......

Drug use isn't necessarily a disease, nor is the consumption of alcohol. But being addicted to drugs and alcohol is a different story.

I understand that , but consuming alcohol or using drugs causes a change in your brain that affects some much worse than others, I still wouldn't call it a disease.

You may not call it a disease, but it is. And what you just said sort of touches on why. There are folks who can drink or use drugs regularly but not become addicted. But for those who suffer from the disease of addiction, just small amounts of consumption can make one's body dependent on the substance. It's fairly obvious that some folks have this disease, just as others have type 1 diabetes, others have eczema, others have glaucoma, etc.

It has to be more specific. Some drugs are addicting, some are not. Some can cause one to commit suicide. Interestingly the cure for addiction is stopping of taking the drugs whereas in disease one may need drugs for a possible cure. Where it gets really weird is when the Psychs who are big into "rehab" come up with a "theory" about the cause of a mental illness that they say is physically based but not treated by a doctor where they give drugs that go ahead and don't produce a cure.

But the point is that the facts don't really support that he wasn't murdered. Sure, he may have been all of those things, but if he died because someone else decided it was his time and not because he thought hit was his time then there is a problem. Most drug addicts don't shoot themselves because they like taking drugs too much. Someone with mental issues, yeah, they may shoot themselves. Did he have a history of mental illness?

His cousin Bev whom is a nurse and has worked with the mentally ill for many years said that when he was younger he was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder and also Manic Depression.

"Kurt was depressed for much of his life - as a child he would seek sanctuary in his bedroom closet. "

Also...
"Kurt's family tree looks like something out of a textbook on mental illness. Many of the Cobain men abused alcohol and some were violent. Depression seems to have run rampant. Kurt definitely came from a bipolar family.

Sadly, Kurt was not the first Cobain to kill himself."
His mothers side of the family was just as bad if not worse.

Here's an odd fact.

"Kurt's great-grandfather committed suicide in the same Washington State mental hospital that actress Frances Farmer, who was manic-depressive, was treated in. The wedding dress worn by Courtney Love when she married Kurt had once belonged to Frances Farmer."

As for the drugs.
Some depressed folks do self medicate and can make it worse.
When you throw in that whole Rock N Roll High Life lifestyle that just adds to it.
Drugs & Fame Ect...

I still want to see the film and see exactly what the private investigator dug up on them. Seems to me, he would know more about this case than anyone else. Unless he has an obvious motive for lying - I'm willing to listen.

Does committing suicide really make a person nothing more than a piece of shit? Were they ALL weak and therefore their achievements in life have no value whatsoever? Ernest Hemingway made a calculated decision based on the type of treatment for his mental illness that would eventually wipe out his memory and destroy the person who he was. Weak? I don't think so. Some people plan their death while other individuals simply react to a temporary discomforting situation. I believe we find comfort in calling these men and women "weak" regardless of circumstances. We love this "label" and find comfort in it. Some can't handle life, marriage, lost love, chronic and severe pain, pain of death, shame of an illness, teen pregnancy, college, social situations, genetic chemical imbalance, financial loss, drug addiction, etc....I don't envy or worship anyone one of these individuals. I also don't worship someone born healthy, athletic, wealthy, lucky, short or tall. I would rather give recognition to a person on who they were and lived their lives.
