Cool Emig story

Edited Date/Time 4/7/2014 9:28pm
Nothing much but messaged Emig on Facebook about his grips. Asked him if they worked with barkbusters. He actually messaged me back. I was kinda shocked. Cool dude.

AND? DO THEY WORK WITH BARKBUSTERS? WTF did he say?

Are you making up this story to get all forum users to follow suit and mass troll Emig on Facebook about his grips on April fools?

Haha. Ya he said they would work with barkbusters. No personal experience for him. Thought I would give them a try just by him being cool with a response. I ride downhill and lock on grips work great so they seem like a no brainer.

The grips look legit. I have some on back order to arrive next week. I think they have sold well.

I think that's actually the worse feature of those grips, the plastic pops out the first time you fall down. After that it's really easy to clog the throttle tube up with dirt.

Even though the grips are made to adapt for bark busters, your comment that "the plastic pops out the first time you fall" is inaccurate. Compared to a glue on grip this system is way better in the event of a crash. Ill put it up against a glue on grip any day when it comes to performance on the bike. Give them a try and get back to me if you think them need to be improved, I would welcome your input.

I agree that glue on grips suck. The gen 1 ODI lockons were tough, but the lack of a closed end meant that grit easily got under your throttle tube and gummed it up. The gen 2s in question solved that by closing off the end, unfortunately it took basically no time to break the ends off both sides of mine. I'm still sticking with them, I'm never gluing a grip again, just wish they sold a version the was more solid on the end, without the perforations for the barkbusters. The plastic seems like it could be less brittle also.

Its still interesting to see Fro as the serious announcer type. Most of the times I have seen him at races (indoor or out) over the years he was wandering around shirtless with a gold chain and giant shades on. Cooler than the other side of the pillow to talk to though. I like that he is branching out into some new areas. Why not?

I can't believe it's actually him. Pinch me if this is real.

HAS to be a PR person?

If it's Jeff...You're a badass overcoming your speech issues. That episode of Supercross behind the dream with you was awe-inspiring.

Buy some ODI bar ends.

End that issue all together.

I've got the ends knocked out and mounted with my barkbusters. If my suspension makes it back soon hopefully I'll get to try them out..

That's what I ran with the Gen 1s. That was actually where the big issue came up on the throttle side, the gap between the throttle tube and the bar end would get jammed with dirt if I went down if the dirt was soft.
