Actually most of the pro riders listen to a custom podcast of Vital MX threads that are fully transcribed and then read by Morgan Freeman.

True story.

When i have start the bmx training so i have wear bmx clothes with all protectors and i listen to the radio at bmx traing.

Not sure what the big deal is. Seems as though it could be used to replace reading a pit board once a lap and use it as spotters do in NASCAR, to warn about issues unseen on the track.. "rider down, red cross out, roll next three, then pin it" ...."down rider next turn on inside"

Sure, and it would not cost that much, like a go pro.

I should have detailed my thought; what I meant was, a factory or loaded team can put 15 guys around the track, guys that could be trained regarding line choices or simply to alert in case of issues, may have the edge over a privateer team coming with 3 friends and his mechanic.

Now I see your point. I thought the same thing as LostBoy when I read your post initially.

Interested to hear if the Google glasses rumor is true. Doesn't seem logical. . . or legal.

From a safety standpoint alone I think radio communication between rider and team should be allowed. There has been some talk about this subject at mx team manager meetings and I am all in favor for many reasons....time will tell. JGR will be the first imho to have them with their assn with Nascar!!

I have been going to the nationals with my son since 2011. Have either stood at staging or near the gate for every start. Not once have I seen a rider with ear buds in at the line. Yes maybe years ago he did get away with it, but I'm sure it is not allowed now.

Yep easy enought to find in the rule book. It's illegal to even use a music player during MX racing. I've never worn mine MX racing only practice. I have used it for harscambles races.

I think back in 1988 or so, Jeff Ward and Kawasaki was using radio communication one way to the rider but Team Honda protested as it being an advantage. I don't believe they ran it all season, just one or two races. Don't count on this as being accurate info, I just seem to remember in '88 Wardy having a receiver on the back of his helmet. No need for eyes in the back of your head when someone is telling you where your competitor is.

I used to be a spotter for a local late model NASCAR team and would imagine that having a spotter in a sx/mx race would be a tremendous advantage.

I listened to the clip. It sounded like a conversation that happened after the heat race. Big James asking little James why didn't he pass him.
