First of all, I know it’s impossible to make everyone happy but I still feel compelled to voice my opinion on the Northwest regional and Loretta Lynn National qualification. We are all aware of the cost of motocross alone, then when you throw in travel expenses things get crazy. Traveling to Loretta’s alone is a major undertaking for us living in the Northwest and when it’s coupled with huge drives to attend our own Northwest regional it’s too much of a financial burden for most.

NORTHWEST REGIONAL

I posted the schedule to show that the Northwest region caters to California and puts Northwest riders at a disadvantage financially and competitively. A dual qualifier is available in California then the Northwest Regional is hosted in California! Guess who gets the short end of the stick all the Northwest kids and their parents wallets! The Northwest kids suffer a competitive disadvantage; they have to travel really far to compete on a track they rarely if ever ride for their home regional. The Southwest regional is at a track people have access to year around that’s a lot closer in proximity to most Southwest regional riders. I suggest since a dual qualifier is available the Northwest regional should be in the Northwest (Washougal, Horn Rapids, or Idaho somewhere) there is no reason California riders should be given such an advantage competitively or financially. Look at the numbers below it’s clearly unfair to Northwest kids and families. I sincerely hope this provokes some thought and discussion; I thank you for your time and support of MX a sport we love! I just want to keep things in reach for the middle class.

Your turn.
You're saying you want it in Washington every single year? I think you're pretty lucky there having it at Washougal what seems like every other year.
We haven't had an Amateur Regional in Ohio since 2007.

3 lap motos
It used to be 15 min,3 times,18 classes
And,at the regional I've seen 65 riders show up for one class, run a guali moto in the morning where they take 18,
Then a lcq where they take 4,if you dont make cut you are headed home by 9am saturday morning
This is just to set the 40 for the 3 motos.
The Oatfield Area qualifies you for both the Northwest and Southwest Regionals?? Or do you have to declare one region or the other when you sign up?
Seems jacked if a rider could do the Oatfield Area and then go race the Southwest Regional and if they don't qualify there then go to Hangtown and try the Northwest Regional.
How do you get all that in,38x3 motos.
It's one thing if some rich family wants to drive across the country to try to qualify in different regions. But to be able to ride 1 area qualifier the same day that qualifies you for 2 different regions just by paying extra is dumb. The race should be either 1 or the other or the riders should have to pick one when they sign up.
The rule book used to say 15 minutes at regional, tbis was 87 not read one since, but in 03,the last time i went,
We did about 15 min at monster mountain that year.

By the way...got any Cagiva parts laying around?
Post a reply to: you better be a badass on a bike if you want to go to lorettas from the NW (and it doesn't hurt to have deep pockets)
