Obviously the OP has genuine interest in this gear so apologies for adding humor to the thread. The stuff he was wearing at Detroit looks like the line could be called "Tall Kitchen Bag" to me:

Maybe the stuff Seven is coming up with now is the new cool, but I think Thor and Shift put out gear that looks like real MX gear to me.

I say worth the extra money because I can buy a good and durable set of One or Axo that's just as durable if not more as Seven. Just wondering what makes it so much more and if it's even worth the price.

I have the first set of gear and I love it,its different than everything else I have worn. More form fitting and very light and breathable. I love it!

is he still using the vest and super tight jersey combo? last few weeks his jersey seems loose and no vest.

ps.. to answer the OP question, no, it's not worth it to me. i have a hard time justifying buying last year's gear out of the clearance section let alone drop the kind of coin they are asking for that gear...

in a sport that everything costs an arm and a leg, it comes to no surprise that James' gear is as expensive as it is.

I am wearing gear I bout 7 and 9 years ago. There is a reason I bought last years Fox gear back then. Will Se7en gear last this long? Only time can tell

Its completely different than any other gear out there. Some of the materials, fit and finish are all unlike anything used in a set of moto gear. The fit is a more slim fit but with the use of extensive flex panels allows you to move and gives you the flexibility you need on the bike, even with knee braces. They are super light weight as well.

The jerseys are different type of poly material and the first versions were a bit heavier than the later stuff James has been wearing and lazer cut holes cut in them for venting. There is also a full mesh vented jersey coming this month.

The only thing usual about the gear is the gloves. Well, the Zero glove is different in that its super thin and really snug fit (as gloves should).

I have a set of Seven gear so this is how I know.......

I'm worried about the athletic fit. I don't like snug jerseys. They make me feel fat lol. So if I order a bigger size would it be fine?

Ya it will fit you. Ya just my pants have a small hole but I literally crash about twice a ride. But the gear is legit.

Funny the concerns about the durability of the gear....

Does TLD gear have durability issues?

Me? Im a Fox guy. I know what Im getting every time. It's quality. I also have some Alpinestars gear that I just love. Ive had Thor and had no issues.

I never tried the TLD stuff because I think it's ugly. But I like the look of 7 and wouldnt be opposed to trying a set. I trust TLD.

I think its time for some new gear. I like the Seven stuff unfortunately when i decide to pull the trigger my size and style are sold out.

I'm curious to hear how the vented stuff holds up. Seems like every time I get a vented jersey, it tears on the first tree or tiny limb I brush whereas the non vented gear seems to hold up better generally.

Yea, I have the same problem. I wear a lg jersey and may size up to an xl (because I'm so muscular and all...LOL!). The pant was the biggest concern but because of all the flexibility in them it really wasn't a problem.

TLD gear as a whole, is extremely durable especially their SE Pro Course line. The problem with them is they are kind of baggy in the knee even with braces. The trade off is I've never really worn a set out yet, The GP Air is the best compromise between fit and durability.

@Iwreck I have never had a jersey from anyone hold up in the woods! NJ scrub pines are about the toughest things I've ever hit. I'm convinced it why they call New Jersey, New Jersey!!!

Haha. Very fitting name. We do have a lot of mesquite throns where I race but it seems like I've had one particular Fox jersey for about 4 years now and it is only just now starting to show wear to where I'm going to have to move on to my new gear.

The jersey is very durable I can attest to that. It's fits and feels like nothing else. I only have a small hole or two in the pants due to me sliding out going fast on super hard packed dirt. The quality is not an issue.
