Yeah he was riding good. If he didn't crash I think he would have gotten on the podium. Stewart, RV, K-ROC all crashed too though…and guys like Reed, Barcia, Canard, Millsaps are injured. That being said, Mike's starts were awesome and he was able to battle tonight rather than drop once guys started pressuring him. He really looks like he's getting more confident in himself and his riding. I expect him to be in the top 10 from here on out.

Great ride! How many of us would be where we are at today without a second, third...10th chance? I've had my fair share I know that. If Tickle doesnt have his panties all in a bunch then why should we? Let him deal with it. The mob got out of control with this one IMO

my opinion has nothing to do with last weeks antics but really don't think he's been in shape since his suzuki days, speed was there last night but hard to ride when your tongues in the sprocket

I understand what your saying, in the past he has looked back quite a bit and just about pulled off the track when guys were pressuring him for a pass. I think he did a lot better last night and fought for his place on the track instead of giving it away. Not sure what happened to make him crash but thought it was an improvement. Hopefully he can keep it together and build off it and prove to himself he belongs there (for our sake and his). From what i can see its not a question of his speed or talent so much, its more about whats going on upstairs that was hurting him. He needs to "believe the hype" and think like a winner, easier said than done however. I was never an alessi fan but cant stand seeing him get kicked while hes down. I'd rather give him some encouragement, let him catch his breath and give him a chance to fight and we as fans might be lucky enough to see some good stuff come out of him. As fans i see nothing good coming from knocking him down just to watch him fade away like we have so many others. But if he can put it all together that would mean we have one more guy to challenge for top positions and better racing. I just got totally off track, I just meant to give the kid some credit on a good ride last night but instead I spewed out an essay lol carry on nothing to see here folks!

Great post Cousin Eddie... And your right, we all should be happy to see another rider running up front. And as it seems easy to knock him or make fun of his interviews, there's a ton of pressure riding with those guys. Making the podium is a great relief for some of them, so words don't always come easy. And let's keep in mind that Mike, along with others are out there fighting not only to win, but fighting for their jobs.

The "Boo Birds" were relentless Saturday night. I have not watched the TV coverage yet, but the crowd booing during his post race stadium interviews for his heat race and hole-shot as well as cheering when he fell in main were classless acts by thousands.

I think Mike's move on Tickle last week sucked and I was never an Alessi fan anyhow. Still, these guys out there laying it on the line week after week at this level deserve a little respect.

Mike rode well and even though he didn't complete the night, it was still one of his best nights and something to build upon. Sure, MANY benefited by the first turn crash but I am not sure if Tomac would have gotten around him nor Seely. Would have been interesting to had seen it play out.

What am I missing,he got the holeshot and still got passed, but not as much as usual because all the real heavy hitters fell at the start and he finished 15th and that's a "good ride" The good rides were from RV and Stewart who raced from the back to the front not like MA who raced front the front to the back........................again, must be different standardsBlush I guess the Broncos played a hell of a superbowl too.

You could also look at it as a fan of the sport. Alessi pulling a hole shot over the factory prepped bikes is no big deal. He's done that far too many times. You could simply state "he finished 15th" or enjoyed a non-factory EFI mapped engine pulled away from two factory prepped Hondas. The race result will not show how well Mike Alessi rode. However, it was a great effort and a confidence booster to run in the 2nd position clicking off smooth laps. I would have loved to see him get a deserving 2nd place finish. It didn't happen. What did happen is that spectators watched Alessi's effort and determination to improve on his sx skills and almost witnessed a non-factory rider standing on the podium. You can't ask for anything better than that.

Must be different standards? JS and RV are two of the best ever. A good race for one guy is a bad race for another, been that way for years.

it was hard to tell on tv but did people start cheering when he crashed? It kind of sounded like it to me but i'd have to hear from someone at the race to actually have an idea.

I liked Tomac's comment. "Before lap 10 I was feeling awesome, and after that I just settled in. And Mike, honestly he was going second place speed—he was riding good! I can’t take anything away from him."

I'm not a fan of Mike or any of the Alessi's but that's messed up to cheer when a guy crashes. I also think it's fucked up for all those guys wishing serious injury and or death threats to Mike after the Tickle thing. I even heard everybody was booing him when he was being awarded his holeshot check? That's gotta be tough, but he's given people reasons to feel that way about him. I don't agree with booing in either situation, but it's even worse to do it when a guy, regardless of who he is, has just crashed and could be injured. Hopefully Mike can avoid the drama from here on out and maybe people will start to forget all the mishaps and focus on his racing. He was riding really well before the crash.

Good stuff... MA needs to build from that and forget the rest, stop doing stupid shit, and focus on riding/racing. I'd like to see him do well, fugg I like to see them all do well, (I honestly don't have one particular favourite rider). I'm thankful for the show all these guys put on for us. If RV had crashed 1 turn from the finish...stalled the bike, not been able to get it started, and been credited at the last rider on the lead lap, does that erase his good ride? Was it not still a good ride? This is an exaggerated example, but the premise applies to MA..especially on that treacherous track where 2" of tire misplacement going up a jump face will put you on your head (ask KRoc)

MA is riding SX the best he ever has...and I think a lot of the credit must go to MB, who is helping MA with some supercross specific techniques that he never really learned (whoops...bowl corners, etc.). Call me crazy, but at the pace he is improving...I could see him winning a SX, it the planets align, next season. He has to keep improving. Perhaps not this year...but I would not be surprised by a podium.... The flashes of race winning speed are there...such as the first laps at ATL.

He MUST stop settling into the pecking order mindset he has in SX, though. That is his mental trap. He's fast out front, because he has no reference point. I think that as he continues to gain confidence in his speed, at some point that mental block will become obvious to him...and when he gets passed...he will say screw that guy...and pass him back. Lots of riders are faster from behind because they can go to school. MA needs to learn to ride that way.

Ezza made a good point... Mike may be finally learning there are no magic bullets. I have always gotten the vibe that his dad was so focused on getting 'the edge' (new technology!) somehow that Mike got sucked into looking for magic bullets, which distracts from the real goal
