Who used to do the automotive cutaways back in the 80's? I remember a few from some magazines that were sooooo detailed.
That's what I trained as, a Technical Illustrator for 4 years at Blackpool College of Art & technology, learning how to draw these out with ellipse templates, pencil and inked in using Rotring pens on CS10 line board. Not a computer or illustrator programme in sight!
When I get time will dig out my old portfolio from under the bed and post some. Funny but virtually all me projects were motorcycle based!

I would really like to be able to draw like that,JHarper and 5Twenty2, but for some reason I really suck at drawing objects

All I ever did sketch was some portraits

Those Don't look bad at all. The trick for me is all about medium. Find the one that works best. It's hard to get contrast with just pencils. charcoal on the other hand produces some great contrast. Same with color. Vibrant colors are going to look better than bland. Keep it up. I like that Jimi!

here are some recent ones I did. The breaking bad one is a painting.

Photoshopped.....Laughing

Damn, that's just one of those things that seems impossible. Can't imagine the time involved.

Hi!
I just finished a new painting. This time, I tried something new! For the golden mirrored lens, I incorporated leaf gold in the acrylic painting which creates a cool shining effect!
Hope you like it!

Haven't picked up a pencil in years, but art was my thing when I was a youngster, a little rusty now and I sort of fucked up the detail when I resized this...I gave the original to James' Mom a long time ago...

2 months ago, I did a new commissioned drawing of Roger de Coster
The drawing was given to him at the MXON in Teutschenthal last weekend under the tent of Alpinestars.
The drawing was commissioned by Gunter Frohn who is a former successful motocross rider himself and who raced together with Roger de Coster. Also Sylvain Geboers has been there!

Here is the drawing of Roger in the early 70's.

I dig this...

went a bit dotty at one stage ha ha , this is all done wit dots , one at a time , took 30 hours to do the helmet , stopped counting at that stage lol ,but took 3 months to finish ,
ITs called Stippling. Use to do it myself back in the day, not quite as good as this but not that far off. I did a "Dokken" (rock group) poster once coming out of a wall of fire. Looked pretty good but that was at least 20 years ago

It would be really cool to see the 2 stroke version of this and put them side by side!

When i see a picture of a four stroke like that it really makes me think how ridiculous a design a four stroke is. All of that weight and complexity sitting above the piston that is just not there in a two stroke.

Great idea! I'll keep that in mind!

@Robgvx: I think the same! At the moment, I'm numerically investigating the intake process of a 250cc engine and it is very complex but at the same time really interesting!

@Jharper: Nice drawing! Currently, I'm also working on a painting of Reed!

Some of my recent commissions. This was a painting of Gennady Moiseeev for Davey Coombs, given to his good friend Eric Johnson who has Russian Ancestry.

Commission for Alan Bott of his holeshot at 2013 VMXDN Farleigh Castle.

Ayrton Senna commission for Doug Mercer.

Commission for Rick Wood.

Commission of Trev Calderwood on CZ 360cc at Classic MXDN Sweden.

You guys are all extremely talented! I am absolutely in awe of what artists are able to produce. It is probably the single most trait I envy because I absolutely cannot draw, which is frustrating as shit. I get so frustrated sometimes because I have what I feel is a pretty keen eye for aesthetics, but I have a very limited ability to be able to put them on paper. Love to fabricate, but it's absolutely a "do it as I go process." Anyways, keep this artwork coming because am really loving the stuff y'all are coming up with.
