You kinda have to wonder if a RockStar or Red Bull rider would even have a shot at the team if circumstances were different.

I honestly think for this one race the bikes should have special USA graphics only and no other stickers at all.

Ditto...but, they have to pay for the trip, and week end.

Unfortunately, they need those sponsors.

Is Monster actually paying to be a part of Team USA this year? I haven't heard one way or the other.

Of course, you do have the fact that it's a sponsor that's there all season long. To tell them, "Sorry, you can't play that weekend," doesn't really work.

Agreed

And the gear makers should have to bid for the team uniform.

Think Olympics

The season is over and the sponsors have gotten what they paid for. The promoters should be paying the bill on this one. They could sell the advertisement through out the entire season but when our team bikes are crated up and sent to the races they need to be USA bikes only. Not Monster, Red Bull or Rock Star bikes.

Yeah right. Read a 30 page clothing contract and you'll see we're not ready for this. I believe Philipaerts from Italy is not riding because he had to wear the italian jersey without is current sponsors. Is it still accurate?

Every entry list I've seen for the MXoN has had David Phillipaerts on it. It'd be a shame if he's not in there...particularly if he takes the MX1 championship.

I dont need to read a clothing contract, I've seen plenty. Sports managers need to read contracts and learn how to negotiate.

There are loads of athletes worlwide who are personally sponsored but when it comes to the Olympics they wear the team uniform. Why is MX different?

Create a bidding war and generate more funds, isn't that how it works?

It's not the Olympics...but it's as close as MX will ever get to an Olympic-like experience.

I'm with you on the concept and I think it could be cool, but nowadays with every square inch being exploited let alone the amount of money paid by the gear sponsors, I don't see it coming...
Not too long ago JT Racing was in charge to design the team USA logo that was on the chest of the riders, the sleeves were left for the gear sponsor, it was really cool but back then the energy drinks were not even invented...

I hear what you're saying but it's the managers that have allowed the energy drinks (and that's a joke in itself) to dictate the terms. Even the gear companies call the shots.

Pause/rewind

Yes Mr Fox (thor, answer, whoever) my athlete would be prepared to promote your clothing, but here are the terms...........

Same, same with the Red Monster Star dealio

Grow some balls and take ownership of the sport!! (this is to the managers by the way)

...Too much green too. Bike could use some more Red, White, Blue... or perhaps a little yellow if you catch my drift.

I'm with Jay and shocked the header pipe isn't painted red, white and blueing.

Also, American flags should be laced into the spokes, like kids on their bikes

in fourth of July parades.

And women should pull their tops down more, exposing fleshy mounds.

*Sorry, don't know where that last one came from - s'cuse me.

We complained when we didn't send our best riders. Now we send them and we complain about the bikes. My god get over it!

I just hope team USA bikes finish the race with their riders on the top of the podium

I like the bikes. Monster logos on the tank look a lot better than plastered all over the inside and outside boundaries of an outdoor track.

By the time you add red, white and blue to the helmets, goggles, jersey, pants, boots, and gloves...I think there will be plenty enough red, white and blue on there. Smile
