No doubt it's his bike, the serial number starts with JS. Should go viral now. Watch for it on the evening news!Laughing

Or, this can take the place of the broken KTM triple clamp picture from here on out. Right click, save...

How the hell does that happen? The lower clamp would have to twist significantly for that to happen.

Those tubes taper down a tad too much between the triples. Ouch.

When that upper tube flexes, those inverted forks bind , can't follow through the stroke and catastrophe settles in. Did I say "ouch"? That's the beauty of a conventional set of forks. They can flex at the triples and still work smooth. Unfortunately Jeremy didn't like them so we all got stuck with inverts...LOL

I don't think the forks are the problem, from what I've heard theres a triple clamp issue. These are the same forks as the kawasaki 250s. That being said, its still an issue that should be taken care of, hell I'd throw a set of clamps on mine for precaution, Ride Eng clamps are like 499, hell of alot cheaper then forks.

could it be the bearing in the steering stem are worn?

Someone explain to me how it's a problem with the clamps, I'm genuinely asking? A failure of the forks like that is preferable to a failure of the clamps surely? Isn't this what happens when the clamps fail.

True story, this was my old racing buddy Tanner. I was there that day, it was day practice at Salem Arenacross. I didn't have the cash for day practice so I was just gonna do the race at night (this was before I learned how to get around for free on occasion Wink )

There was a little tapered tabletop in the middle of the arena, the C riders and up were jumping to the second landing. Well me and Tanner were D riders at the time but he was getting kinda quick for being a noob. So he said he was gonna square up the corner before it, click 3rd and huck it. He did and he landed about 10 feet past the landing to flat, grabbed a handful of whiskey throttle and went straight into the concrete barrier circling the track. It was pretty fucked, but he didn't even break a bone. I was only like 16 so I was tripping out, trying to get all our shit together so we could head to the hospital. Luckily his dad was rich so he got a new-ish CRF250 not too long after this.

Ironically, I landed nose high in the same building about 3 years later and got some whiskey and hit off the concrete barrier in damn near the same spot, my crash wasn't nearly as bad tho.

Thats what I am seeing as well, looks like the bolt that joins the triple clamps is weak at the point where it is welded to the lower clamp. When it bends it stresses the middle of the fork tube.
Just a observation with no facts.Wink
