Anyone catch the lame Chap Moto commercial? I've been trying to find a clip of it on the interwebs.

I liked the commercial. It was on point. We all know the dudes that come out from the farm to race and look like a goon

I guess my point is, going to the track has become such a fashion show its intimidating for someone less fortunate to come out and rip some laps around.

Seems like solid marketing. Embarrass someone about thier gear, "Hey, we have cool gear. Buy from us."

Ethical? You decide.

Love to rail a "pit beauty" wearing my mis-matched riding gear.
Fancy, new gear looks good rolling in the mud...sayin'.

The commercial is weak.

The commercial was geared toward poseurs. Notice most of those of those guys were sitting in their trucks with their untarnished gear on (probably talking about riding), while the "goon" was actually on his bike heading out to the track.

Mixed emotions about it on pulpshow.
Lots either took it as a slam on just the joe rider and I guess Rich Taylor wasnt happy about the 4 year old pair of goggs in it.

I'd like to see it before making a decision, but like JT said, how can you make fun of anyone that rides dirt bikes.........not just because he's in the gear business now.

I saw a guy on a pretty tired looking old 80s bike with 80s gear ripping up a hidden track in the hills with some pretty gnarly cliff jumps and drop offs in it not long ago.
All the kids with all their new stuff didnt really have anything for him. Dude was flogging the old iron and he truly had NF's to G.

Now that I remember, dude did have newer smith goggles. My thoughts were "this guy must race vintage and was a pretty gnarly dude back in the day"

what is ironic about that commercial is that Chaparral itself was the one making the lamest gear in existence, OCELOT. You didn't want to be caught dead in ocelot gear. and Chaparral is the manufacturer LMAO! now the lamest shit is the Bilt line from Cycle Queer

I didn't think that deeply about it when I first saw it, but yeah I guess it was sort of fucked. I dunno, I'm young and like pretty stuff, I can't help but be interested in clean gear and goggles etc. But if I had to go ride like that Joe in the commercial, I wouldn't hesitate for a second. I once rode a YZ80 around a backyard track in basketball shorts and some sneakers complete with an old 90's helmet. Fuck it right?

I haven't seen the commercial, but the theme you describe is not uncommon.

Example: Hey, do you scare off the opposite sex with your body odor?

Hmm....didn't TW run photos of Jody Weisel specifically to make fun of his gear?
And didn't TW once post a photo of a "goon rider" for some public ridicule. But oops, it turned out to be Damon Bradshaw?

Yep not much different than any make up or ab machine or fitness video.

Start with some pimple faced, or fat gal or dude. Show the makeup work its magic, the Ab machine sculpt a perfect six pack and the work out video carve out Fabio himslef, then cut to the same person looking ten times better with a side by side comparison shot and your done.

You got a point....

I have not seen the pics you speak of, but I have seen other photos of people that were published for the ribbing. Like the pick-up kits and mullets. If you wanna wear your jersey to your SX, then go ahead, fuck it! (but you look sillyLaughing ) So I see it from both sides, I know I am mean AF to my friends but I wouldn't dare say those things to a dude like the guy in the commercial.

I like the one where poor guy is just trying to get to the garage through his screaming kids and bitchy wife, just to change the oil on his scooter.

I can very much relate to that one....

Yep we do, who gives a fuck? Is it a fashion contest?

Chaparral can suck a soft cock, that commercial was lame.

This. I bet most of you condemning this commercial are the same ones laughing when Trey Canard (and others) goon ride. I see plenty of beginner riders that ride like goons but I guess it's OK to make fun of them, right?

I mean shit, weren't we all goons at one point? It sucks then when you get made fun of but that's the point in progressing, so you can laugh at the goons. Kinda like being a senior making fun of freshman. idk
