Was giving out a few Caselli "66" stickers at the KTM demo day, and saw the KTM truck didn't have anything on it paying homage to 66...

Tried to give them one to put on, and they said No Thanks. Classy move from KTM on that. Wow.

I have mixed emotions about stuff like this, the employee's do not get to decide what stickers or logo's go on the truck and even the person who made the stickers may or may not be doing business with KTM, There is a possibility of many conflicts of interest.
I highly doubt it is because they don't care.

^ I agree. I know quite a few KTM employees were directly affected through the tragedy. But they still have to operate under contracted procedures

Agree with both guy's posting above me. Throwing the entire KTM company under the bus because of this and starting a thread over it? Kind of attention whoring if you ask me. But good on you for doing something to remember a fallen rider, props

That's BS. No way is there a policy not allowing someone to display a Caselli 66 sticker. Makes zero sense. He was a long time KTM guy, and some KTM employee is going to get heat over posting a Caselli sticker? I dont buy it.You think Jon-Erik Burleson is going to allow that?

The KTM team in Dakar were all running them. KTM and Dakar are about as high profile as you can get. Up to one billion TV viewers watch Dakar. Makes SX/MX in America look like a jump rope contest.

there is a way. for instance;

lets say they are sponsored and contractually obligated to display only Factory Backing graphics (just an example), and the OP owns and operates a competing graphics company. Heeding the tragedy, OP makes a memorial sticker and distributes accordingly. It would appear as direct affiliation, to the likes of which there is no direct compensation to KTM or the Caselli family, but it would be displayed among a professional setting designating the significance and support of OP graphic company.

Now if Factory Backing (just the example graphic co) distributed memorial stickers, Im sure they would be put to use.

Im sure KTM would not hesitate at that instance, unfortunately it is just as much as a PR frenzy for the support, if not more, than if Kurt won the race.

I agree with them, as much as a loss is tragic, it is necessary to move forward especially in risky sports.

Otherwise we would have many many numbers on the trucks ...

I agree. Just thought maybe they'd at least pay some sort of homage to him, he took that program to the next step...

If it were me and I worked for KTM, I'd put a sticker on the truck. On the window, on the bumper somewhere. Management would have to remove it.

The stickers I have seem so far do not have any vendor branding on them. Not saying there aren't some out there though.

The one I have ONLY has "Caselli 66" and a small FMF logo on it.

Its the life we live in now, sponsor dollars are more important than people.

Have you never heard the term "its all about the almighty dollar"?

The FMF logo might well be your answer. At the end of the day though, you don't need some sticker to remember Kurt. I'm sure everyone at KTM is mourning his loss, regardless of whether there is a sticker on their truck, a sticker that you probably wouldn't even see. It's like when people get a tattoo to remember their mum dying, as if they would forget without the tattoo.

Bingo

And on the other-hand...I was rocking the Big FMF 66 on my frt #-plate and some KTM employees loved it.

The Demo-Day was a blast & Destry was there railing the main-track keeping his skills up (looked EXTREMELY FAST!)

classy post for sure, way to throw an entire manufacturer and all their employees and personnel under the bus to further your own agenda. to say that KTM doesn't care is such a fucking joke and pretty god damned rude as well.

sometimes you should keep things to yourself and be upset about it, this is one of those times.

Jon-Erik Burleson is the president of KTM
North America and was a close friend of Kurt's for many years. He and everyone at KTM that I know had deep love and respect for Caselli and his loss went through the company as a shared tragedy. The eulogy that Jon-Erik wrote for Caselli was from the heart, and showed much more character and sincerity than any sticker on a bumper could. I am sorry but saying they lack class for something so trivial as this shows how little one knows of Kurt Caselli and his KTM family...

+2 on Peely & DCs comments. Talk about class, this thread & your comment is classless to say the least. Damn man, let them mourn his death, the company as a whole doesnt need this petty drama over a little sticker. No need for tastless crap like this. They've done alot already to pay their respect to Kurt, they shouldnt have to justify putting a sticker on their rig from some ramdom squid.

I agree with both JO and Peelout. Who fucking cares whether or not they would take a sticker from you. You act like everybody has to get on their knees and mourn Caselli's death all the time. The guy's gone, yes from the sounds of it, he was a great guy, however it's time to move on.

What's the point of the sticker anyway, just to "remember" the guy? In that case shouldn't we make them for everyone in our families and give them out to people after they pass away?

I am a KTM dealer and you cannot imagine how Kurts loss cut through the company. 2 years ago KTM presented Kurt and Mike Lafferty awards at the dealer show commemorating thier long association with the company. They both got a heartfelt standing ovation. Also Mr Trunkenpolz then announced that Kurt would become a factory rally rider and how proud they were of his results at Dakar. Trunkenpolz...as in the T in KTM. Everyone at KTM North America knew Kurt and he was easily one of the most personable riders in the company. His passing was very hard on everyone at KTM. I'm sorry but could not be more wrong about how they feel at KTM about Kurt.
