I buy all my automotive tires at Discount Tire and have for about 15 years. They take care of their 'regular' customers bigtime.

Yep, I needed new tires for my box trailer years ago and needed a spare. They put me on a full set and took the best of the old tires and mounted it up to a new spare wheel. Off we went with a truck and trailer loaded down. Made it about 200 miles when one of the tires blew out and shredded itself. I was so happy to have the spare and necessary tools that the brand new tire blowing out didn't bother me. That is until the fucking spare wouldn't fit the trailer. Had to send the wife down the road while I guarded the trailer. She found one of those nearly extinct hole in the wall gas....I mean service stations in the middle and got us back on the road.

Once back to town and at Discount, they tell me they've been having quite a few problems with those tires shredding themselves to pieces. As far as the spare rim not fitting? Well, I guess we shoulda' checked that huh......

I also let them talk me into a set of BF Goodrich all terrains for my F250 guaranteeing me that they were good for a minimum of 40,000 miles. 22,000 miles later they wouldn't even pro rate the pieces of shit.

Owning a little repair shop, I'm one of those "regular customers". At least I was. Their employee turnover rate was pretty high, hardly ever ended up dealing with the same person more than six months at a time. Also, a tire store that can't do an alignment? The local Cooper tire store here kicks ass and those Cooper tires kick ass. Other than Michelins that the wife has had in the past, nothing has outlasted our Coopers. Buying a set of tires and going elsewhere for the alignment almost ranks up there with buying a steak at Sam's Wholesale and having Outback cook it for you. Flame on....LOLLaughing

I have 2 local tire shops I have used one of them since the 70's Discount is to much like wal-mart for me.

I like doing business with people I can count on and don't hide behind the big corporate model.

Them giving someone money to race a Motorcycle doesn't mean shit to me.

I go through a lot of tires and Discount has always been really good to me. I always refers customers their way. Plus, I can usually find one anywhere in the country at a moments notice. That's important when you have 10 tires with warranties!

It sucks that some of you had bad experiences there. Maybe (hopefully) those individuals have moved on.

Why would you say that last part, Jay? Lol. You love this sport as much as anybody and it just makes the racing better! More money means more rides which makes the guys push themselves harder.

However, I'm not sold on Mx/SX becoming too much bigger and popular, strictly based on a lot of the new fans that 'popularity' attracts.

Yes they are a great company. I worked for Discount Tire during HS and college. The owner is great and always gave us the opportunity to really help customers. I wish we had them here in VA as I'd buy all my tires from their stores.

AMEN Newmann and I'm a believer in Cooper as well. I run their discoverer AT3 on my Chevy and they are great!
What bothers me most about Discount Tire is the fact that they offer NOTHING other than tires, how in the fuck do you sell tires and not sell or even offer alignments or front end work that would protect your customers INVESTMENT, and it is a big investment considering most tires are over $1000 these days on a normal truck.
I like the fact that they are into moto and support Chad's team but it's the only positive I can see. They've been very successful with the business model they've got but then so has tirerack.com and tirebuyer.com and both of the others are way better about warranties and offer better products. The reason Discount is so cheap is because they pay tire manufactures to create tire lines for them that are produced in large quantities and to a lower standard than what those manufactures might offer other independent dealers, when made with less material costs and at higher quantities they can offer a cheaper price-

That has got to be the most ridiculous thing I have heard on vital today. So they PAY a tire manufacturer to produce a lower cost tire to buy? Doesn't sound like a profitable business model. Some of the shit you guys come up with is unreal. I have coopers on my silverado that came from discount tire, right now they have 42,000 miles on them, they are a 55,000 mile rated tire, they will make it there no problem. I wouldn't have them do alignments if they did do it, as I have my own alignment guy, so that doesn't bother me.

Not ridiculous, it is a business model many corporations use. Walmart and many others purchase goods from manufacturers that are made specifically for them, usually much cheaper and less quality. Not sure about Discount Tire though, i have never been there, but it wouldn't be surprising if that is the case.
Comparable to when you buy a new truck or car and they have top brand tires on them, but they are a much cheaper and less quality than what that particular brand would produce. Jmo who knows.

Discount does have some tires made just for them. They also sell most name brands as well. The consumer chooses.

They cut me a HUGE check when they fucked up some very rare wheels.

Won't ever, ever, ever go back.

But very happy they sponsor Reed.

Just got 4 tires for my truck from them a few months ago (at a great price, at that) because they support the sport. No hassle, great price, very fast... 0 nonsense. Ill definitely go there for business from here on out.
