Lurker for 8-9 years now and often shake my head at some of the things that go on here but always come back for more.

…anyway felt compelled to comment on this….. ‘The King’ thread went on for 8 pages and had how many views??

Then an absolutely awesome and open interview with Stefan Everts on Racer X is referenced but only attracts a few hundred views, one comment and disappears.

SERIOUSLY? I’m from New Zealand, home of the King brothers, Josh Coppins, Ben Townley, Daryl Hurley, Courtney Duncan, etc, but being 12 hours from the US and 24hours [plane ride time) from Europe respect the hell out of MX riders around the world.

First saw Jeremy McGrath racing in 1991 racing SX at San Jose and totally look up to him as one of my all-time favourite riders. First saw Everts at a Czech GP in 1994 (battling Albertyn and a very fast Yves Demaria), followed by Foxhills in 1995, NZ farewell trip 2006 and riding beside RC at MXDN in 2007 (Budds Creek) – awesome moment.

So everyone is bent out of shape about a stupid bum patch that you can bet your life on that Everts did not request personally - but no one can respect his interview?, the comments about RV, the openness about the riders under his watch (Herlings, Caroli, Roczen), the honesty about his current speed and feelings on his career?

SEROIUSLY – at least give him the respect rather than the ignorance of just pretending like it isn’t there. But having visited the USA 5 times (and loved it with plans to return many more) I suspect this post will likely be met with the sound of crickets.

Apologies to those Americans that did post in ‘The King’ thread with respectful comments as I do know there is many that see beyond the borders. I’m just more upset with the lack of comments on a great interview virtually addressing (like Eric Johnson was commissioned to write it…even tho he is Monster and SE72 is Red Bull) the thread that attracted so much comment.

Okay I’ll go back to lurking for another 8-9 years….

And yeah, STFU noob…

Pastrami makes for a good sandwich, but in my opinion, the Rueben is a better sandwich.

I read the first page or two the first day 'The King" thread popped up, but haven't gone back. I don't hit myself in the head with a Louisville Slugger just for fun either. Some people get it and some don't, but you can't fix stupid so why try!

Welcome, and stick around Kiwi, you make a solid addition to this board.

Saw Stefan had a "KING" butt patch and I knew where that was going so I didn't bother past the first posts. The interview on RacerX was good though.

not a bad post, stick around a bit you'll fit right in.

i just saw the interview and this post this morning. i'm a huge Everts fan and was also at Budds to watch him take a lap with RC, it was awesome and i had goosebumps the whole time.

imo though, GuyB posted the King post because he knew it would generate some hits, bench-racing, debate, etc. which it did. no disrespect from me about Everts, but in my eyes Jeremy will always be The King.

anyway, have a happy Holiday bro

I'm one of the American's in which the butt patch didn't bother.

Personally.....Stefan was / is one of my favorite riders of all time and I appreciate all the skills he brought to this sport when he raced and the skill set he shows now that he's a team manager. I don't care what place you hail from on this planet......if you're great , you're great! Stefan was great no matter what. One of the best MX riders in history to ever throw a leg over a bike......nuff said !

Many Americans, while nice and pleasant to be around, are very ethnocentric and have a very poor educational system. When you understand that it's a little easier to be patient with their failure to grasp some things.

I think it's a bit funny that Liam's favorite rider is RV. I suppose when he gets older he will understand just how good his dad was. But yeah, I agree it's a bit of a shame that more attention wasn't given to such an insightful interview.

James Stewart's interview was on the best I've read in a while as well.

I hate to admit that I've never seen Everts ride in person, but I've got nothing but tons of respect for him. He's one of the greatest of all time and can wear any goddamn buttpatch he wants. His RacerX interview, just like always was honest and insightful, he's a good read every time.

And welcome to the board.

Yep, good one.

An interview requires people to read it. An Instagram photo allows them to get butt hurt without requiring much in the way of mental flexing. Wink
