It's true though....RV is great and Dungey is not. Pretty straight forward really.

Dungey is a bad ass, no doubt but compare the results over the past few years, record books, etc... and he is a ways behind RV, so to compare the 2 of them it is a very accurate statement. But I also thought RV paid him huge props by saying that he is always right there and he can't make a mistake becuse RD is there to capitalize.

They will all be chasing the green bike at the end of the year....JS and RV will be duking it out till the end!
Dungey has won four titles, two of which came in his rookie year, was a little bit of gas off of another title, and you don't think Dungey is great?

These RV/Dungey threads usually get nasty but how about we say that both riders are great because both riders are great.

I have a feeling, and I bet DeCoster does too, k-roc will be the big boy of KTM soon, let alone battling for podiums. It's reality check time for number 5, and it could be the story of the year.
It was interesting to hear Ken say something about how confident he is on the 450, and his feelings on Tomac on a 450, saying its not his style.
The new talent this year is incredible. Can RV maintain his dominance, or will we see a Davi-esque run from someone out of the spotlight.
Let the fuggin gate drop!

Based on the past RV will either win or crash out of series. No one will beat him except for a race here and there.

RV sounds pretty arrogant. That's a big part left-handed compliment, and 100% the truth...unfortunately. If Dungey reads that...and buys into it, RV has instantly gotten in his head. RD's biggest enemy, I think, is between his ears.
So.... RV is arrogant for speaking 100% truth?

Dunge is good but his supercross championship was won without the greats. RV destroyed his leg Js7 got broke along with Reed. There wasn't much left cause everyone was races hurt. The outdoors was won without his main competition. I hope for the guy but you can't argue the facts.

Dungey has just had shit luck with mechanicals that, in the end, have cost him. Gas cap coming off, fuel boiling over or whatever happened, Suzuki wouldn't start so he had to stand at the gate and started nearly a lap down, derailed chain, shifter getting FUBAR'd twice at the MEC, that air shock taking a shit... Point is, there's been a lot that's out of Dungey's control that has cost him.

Dunge is a bonafide champion. Please do not take the glory from any MX championship.

I consider Dungey a great based on his accomplishments. In 2010 he was leading the points going into St Louis when RV crashed out of it. Of course since then RV holds every title he competed for indoors and out.
When is Millsaps expected to be racing?

If Dungey wants to be one of the all-time greats he has one more level he needs to step up to, and that is to be more aggressive. I'd love to see him do it but we'll see. Should be another epic season.

What about 2011 and 2013 Supercross? And the 2011 and 2013 Motocross series?

..and to add fuel to the fireEvil FACT: RV2 has not won an outdoor championship without a gift (DNF) from RD5. It would be epic to see them both finish every moto of an outdoor season and see who claims the title.

I still say RD on the Suzuki was faster and more in control compared to the pogoing pumpkin.

BUT, I don't actually think the comment was offhand, I do think it was intentional, and I think it was meant to stick in the Dunge's craw. See, folks: RV is bored. He wants to work for race wins, and he thinks Ryan is the only one who can challenge him for a whole year consistently. He said that the Minneapolis race was his favorite moment from last year's series, and he lost that race after -gasp of air- Dungey took it from him. He's trying to make him mad. (He'd make inflammatory comments toward Bubba, but he's afraid if James kills himself trying to blow by him in the whoops he might be charged with manslaughter.)

I can't argue with anything I heard out of any rider's mouth. MAYBE Roczen saying he doesn't rev the bike out super hard, but I think he was referring to his current riding style. He was a limiter rider back in his breakout years, if memory serves me correctly.

With Barcia in his second year and Stewart not injured RV is gonna have to ride outside his comfort zone. We saw what happened at the cup. Tomac is also gonna stick it to RV, he has a target on his back. RV needs to go faster than ever. Dungey needs to get his balls out of his moms purse and do work!!!!
Mmmm dont think RV has a comfort zone and looks like 'the boss' when balanced on the edge of doom, whereas Dungey does and will always be waiting to pounce, JS7 seems to have lost the knack of staying on the ragged edge.

Now if RV is to win again this year he is going to have to be mentally right and not lose focus on where the fine line between glory and disaster is as IMO this year is the year when he will be pushed the most (assuming no-one else gets an injury)

Both Ryans are GREAT!
It's just that they both peaked their careers at the same time and Villopoto is just a hair better right now.
(Read riding more on the edge and being more aggrassive than Dungey and thats the difference)

It's 100% truth to who? Him? RV is the least popular champion this sport has had in a while because he comes off as a dick more often than not...so this statement is par for the course. I agree that both Ryan's are champions, and both are deserving of great respect for being the riders they are. RV said what he said to piss Dungey off a little, which might come back to bite him.

RD: Great rider, Baily-like, if you will...but a mediocre racer. Has terrible race management skills, doesn't really seem to have a sense of urgency, and seems to be content to take whatever the race gives him (too patient).

RV: I don't think he's quite as talented a rider as RD as a rider, however, he has a fighter's spirit...heart. What he lacks in ability, he makes (in spades) with sheer aggressiveness. Attacks from the drop of the gate, and has no tolerance for sitting behind slower riders.

I don't really get where everyone says he comes off as a dick all the time. Ya, he fucks with matthes quite a bit, but that's just their relationship. And let's face it, matthes pits out more interviews than anyone so of course that's gonna be the side of Ryan everyone sees more often than not. I love how honest rv is. And I don't care if treats it as a job, because let's face it...it is for these guys.

Since when did this become a fucking popularity contest!?

I'm an RV fan because I love to watch the dude ride.... and that's it. I don't care if he "comes off as a dick", don't care that he rattles off sponsors on the podium, don't care what his favorite color is, don't care if he looks cute in tight jeans...

You want to know what would be really "uninteresting"? If RV acted and rode just like Dungey... talk about a snooze fest.

Some of you girls need to appreciate you're getting to witness one of the best of all times do his thing and quit crying about the way he does it because he does it better than anyone else in the world at this time.
