Cool dude. Make sure you do good at school. You know that you can campaign that 250sx in the 250 class at AMA national amateur events. Give em he--!

2strokeways, first off let me say good luck this year. I applaud your effort, but judging by what I saw in your video, you aren't quite ready to set foot on a SX track just yet. I think you may want to get your feet wet racing AX first. Just clearing all the jumps on your practice track doesn't qualify you to roll out in timed practice on an actual SX race track. I raced SX as a privateer for 8 years and let me tell you its no joke out there. The fact that you want to do it on a 125 is a whole other issue, but I can tell by your body position that you are not ready. Go race AX for a year, as many as you can make it to, and if you are successful there then go for it. Don't waist you time and money trying to qualify for a SX program because you are either going to get your feelings hurt or actually get yourself or someone else hurt. And if you go out there and ride like you are riding in your video, the AMA will yank you off the track so fast it will make your head spin. I understand you are a college student and cant make it out to MTF or GPF but get out there in AX which is meant to be a stepping stone into SX and give it hell. In the meantime, the next time you are out on your track, work on staying centered on the bike and keep you chin over the crossbar. Watch any video of any top 50 guys and you will see that their body position is much further forward than yours. Good luck.

I plan to spend a week or two at club mx or south of the border riding supercross. I know my body position looks bad on the first part of the video because I was laughing at that too, but some of it might have to do with my suspension being so soft as its outdoor suspension. That was only my first day on a supercross track so I'm sure I won't continue with those bad habits.

As far as AX, I don't think he has a choice does he ? "RC's road to Supercross" Doesn't everyone have to do that now ? Or am I wrong ?

I totally agree with you don't wanna shatter your dreams two stroke dude but that body positioning etc has nothing to do with suspension etc that's how you ride obviously and the AMA will yank you off the track and on a 125 it's going to be twice as hard if you ended up going that route.

Curious how did you get your pro card ? The 75 pro am points ? Cause trust me they won't give you one unless you already had it or earned it, my buddy was able to get his outdoor license cause he almost had enough pro am points they went ahead and gave it to him last year but he still can't get a sx license because he didn't actually get the points or ax points there super picky now.

And so you know I raced sx and outdoors and raced overseas bunch in 03-07 so I know how it works.

Anyway not trying be a dick but good luck if you do it.

I have 87 pro am points and I have already talked to the supercross coordinator and applied for my license. I appreciated all of the criticism but I don't think you can judge my riding by watching a 2 min clip of me riding on a supercross track for the first time. Give me a month and I'll post another vid. I'm sure it will be much different.

Get your feet wet in AX, period. There are top AX guys that can barely make top 15 in SX, save your time, money and resources and go make a name in AX. Tyler Bowers is a perfect example to follow and he's probably a 1 out of 1000 scenario that have "made it". Tyler made a name in AX and can run with the majority of his class in SX and he has potential to do more. Don't give up on your goals/dream but at the same time, face reality and facts are facts. You're at a disadvantage riding a 2 stroke against 4 strokes so you have an up hill climb already.

What are you reasons for racing SX? Just for fun or are you trying to make a living of this? if you are doing it for fun, don't do it. If you are planning on racing a 125, then you aren't planning on making a living racing. Dont get in the way of the other guys who are trying to pay their bills racing.

If you want to make a living at it, then here's what you need to do. Do you have anyone else around your area you can ride with that is racing SX? You need to get out there with someone else who is racing SX and train with them. If so, find someone who can make a program. There are several people from your state and Illinois who race SX and regularly make the night show. Get out there with them and ride as much as possible. Make sure you can run within .5 second of their time on the regular basis for multiple laps in a row. Get on a 250F. Get some motor and suspension. Don't disadvantage yourself before you ever show up. Put the two stroke in the shed and get on something you can feel confident about making all the obstacles on. I promise you will already be at big enough disadvantage when you push you bike down the tunnel and onto the track for you first timed practice. You dont believe me? Just wait until you are sitting there waiting for practice to start and you are surrounded by a bunch of guys who have one less number on their number plate than you do. You will feel like your stomach is in your boots and college will look real good at that point. My first sx was Atlanta 1999. TP199 was in my practice and passed me in the whoops going so much faster than me that I almost pulled off and joined the military. You have to be prepared. Im sure MotoMike894 knows what I am talking about. JT, wanna chime in?

Out of curiosity where do you usually race and in comparison to some top pro's that you have lined up with how have you done?

I think it is great that you are able to study mechanical engineering and still have enough time to train. That is a very tough major. Best of luck with your racing and your education. That mechanical engineering degree will set you up much better than most racers outside the top 10-15 in the country...and you can use it way longer.

Bummer is that it looks like you may have to start in Arenacross. This is straight from the Arenacross website - http://www.arenacross.com/registration.aspx?id=2147488881

RICKY CARMICHAEL'S ROAD TO SUPERCROSS:
A rider must complete the Ricky Carmichael Road to Supercross to earn their 250SX endorsement prior to racing Monster Energy AMA Supercross an FIM World Championship.

Earn 3 Road to Supercross Points - 1 Road to Supercross point is earned by each rider who qualifies for the night program in the Arenacross Class.

A rider must attend a minimum of 3 AMSOIL Arenacross Events to earn a 250SX Endorsement.

My SX experience goes as far as smelling the race gas from the stands, but I would listen this guy.

One example of how tough it can be is look at how fast Tyler Villopoto looks in videos and then look at how much trouble he had even making the mains in AX.

I wish you luck man. I'm a mechanical engineering student as well, but this is my first year. Honestly, I know endurocross and supercross are completely different scale wise, but I figured this might pertain to your situation a bit. Last June, I tried racing endurocross for the first time in Sacramento. I was underprepared even though I tried to practice as best I could, and it was WAY harder than I thought it would be. I didn't even qualify for the amateur night show (trust me, there are some seriously good riders in that class), but you know what, I have absolutely no regrets about trying it. There is a good chance I will try again next year, just to see if I can improve and make it into the show. My point is, even if you don't qualify, just going out there and trying might be one of the best experiences you can have. Again, I know endurocross and supercross are on totally different levels, but if you think you can do it, why not give it a go?

You'll be fine Bro!

I've seen a lot worse style in a non seated SX practice, just looked a little rusty. Upload another video after practicing everyday for 2-3 weeks and your flow will look much improved. The last little case out is just par for the course when you ride a 125. SX is dangerous on a 125 so just be as prepared as possible.

Do you guys remember the beating Christian Craig took on here when he posted his first day on an SX track? You got 2 months to make it work, good luck!

go find Jetwerx SX/ AX compound in Florida, they have just what you need, good coaching and SX track time.

Jet (Justin Thompson, older bother to AX champ Cole Thompson) builds all the tracks for the AX series and just opened a training facility for young SX/AX racers .
