Yes.

It makes that race stand out... different. great marketing tactic. may help to increase interest from outside sponsors and those loosely interested in supercross racing.

hardliners and purest will say NO, in my humble opinion.

No simply because I wouldn't want a gimmick like that in a points paying event. It's not bad for a one off race like the MEC but to be honest I wish they'd drop it from that race too.

How is it not straight up if they all have to take it?

No. I like the Joker Lane. I think it's great where it's at, for a one off event with a Million Dollar prize. The Joker Lane, along with the three moto format and having to sweep all three, works well for the MEC. It is a HUGE reward to win a million dollars for a one night event, and as such it shouldn't be easy. To win such a prize there should be a huge amount of consistency and strategy involved, and I think the 3 moto format and Joker Lane add those elements.

As far as SX, it is championship SERIES, and the hardest working, most talented, and most consistent guy over 17 rounds should be the champion. I think the current series format rewards those qualities over the course of the SERIES, so I see no need for a Joker Lane.

Did you see what happened to Marquez in MotoGP when they put in a mandatory pitstop at the AUS round? and just a few hours after the MEC.

Could possibly cost him the title. One of THE biggest blunders i have ever seen.

Lets let them race...we have the joker once a year at the MEC, that is good enough for me.

so that is a NO.

That was definitely an interesting twist to the MotoGP championship chase. The thing is, their pit stop was safety related due to the abnormal tire wear/problems that the new track surface created (for those who did not watch the race).

And yet here you are talking about it.

wow.

If I were a sponsor, then i'd be very happy that someone still remembers the race and the blunder -as it adds drama and hopefully recognition/rememberance of my sponsorship $$.

YES to VEGAS MEC and now I am a maybe for VEGAS AMA.

No. For the Monster Energy Supercross series, let's stick to racing.

You forgot to say "an FIM World Championship." Ralph just took his shirt off.

I think it would be ok at a few rounds of the series, but not the final round. Can you imagine if RV had lost the championship in 2011 (the "greatest season ever") because he missed the joker lane in the last main.

I am also fine with leaving it out. It doesn't add that much to the series in my opinion.

Another joker lane thread, awesome. Why can't people title threads properly so we can avoid clicking on this shit?

Peely saved this thread single handedly.

Not really when you think about it... RV and Bubba were bar to bar for 9 laps. The racing was good up to the point where the riders had to take the joker lane.
