13 years since I sold my last motorcycle.... Have thought about riding everyday since. Listening to my family that it's too dangerous after surviving 2 tours in Afghanistan in utter frustration! I finally have my motorcycle sitting in my garage that I still haven't started due to not having a way to get it out to ride and I knew if I did start it I would die not being able to ride. I finally signed the papers on a new truck this week and after so many years I see this video and am almost in tears because I will get to ride again!
Awesome trailer... I can't think of a better way of explaining it to someone who doesn't ride... And finally if they don't understand it I don't care what they think.... I am going riding!!!!
x 2 Thank You- Motorcycles more dangerous than Afghanistan, talk about ludicrous...
Thanks guys I appreciate it... I didn't mean to draw attention from the video, more about how it made me think about riding! I just was trying to explain it to the wife earlier... I showed her this video and she still doesn't get it!

Oh well...
I feel that! Does your wife have anything that she lives for? Anything that consumes her every waking moment? If not, there's nothing you can do. My wife understands "to a point" but only guys like us, who feel the passion will ever understand what it's all about. Passion is passion, doesn't have to be motorcycles per se.... how one can live without passion for something is beyond me...

Glad your back and have fun riding.
That video is very emotional because it touches that part that keeps us on two wheels. I'm sure you all felt the same when you saw it. " yes, that's it, that's why I ride". Feels good to hear other people verbalized something we have felt our entire lives.
That was awesome!! Loved the scene of the mom pushing her kid on the 50 and letting go.
Great find Michael.
Me too! My grandson has been riding his PW50 for about a year with training wheels with no desire to take them off. I went and bought him a brand spanking new 2014 CRF 50 the other day and when he came over it was sitting out front for him to see. He had no idea he was getting it.
After sitting on it and admiring it for awhile he looked at me and told me, paw paw I don't need my training wheels anymore. He said (just like in the Honda commercial) "I wanna ride" it now paw paw. So I walk down into the yard a little bit and my wife (his maw maw) leads him off just like the woman in that video. The rest is history. He rode for over an hour and we just had to pry his crying eyes off the bike. This all happened just two days ago.
Sorry for being long winded but I just had to share it, I got tears welling in my eyes thinking about that monumental moment in my grandsons life as I know motorcycles will be with him forever now just like they have with me.

This is so true. I get tired of trying to explain to people why I have allowed my boys to ride after they have been hurt so many times. My oldest has broke his hip in a couple places and his hand once. The youngest has broken his left arm five times, his right arm once, both collar bones, sticthes a few times (really didn't ever want them as the scars are better without sticthes) etc, The number once question they have always wanted to know immediately was, how long before I can ride again? You cannot explain the passion of riding to people that haven't thrown a leg over a bike .
I see loving mx a two sided coin. One side being fun and exciting that has taken me to a lot cool places. I have met some great people and met most of my motocross heroes. I met my wife because of mx.
The other side is a dark place. I was a top wrestler and baseball player in high school that would've easily got some type of scholarship to a college. I quit all of that for hopes of making a sx main event. That's the main thing I dreamed of. I have had some pretty serious injuries that could've left me dead or paralyzed. Countless concussions probably undiagnosed and who really knows what the next will do. I love playing baseball but can't throw a ball more than a few times before my shoulder is shit. I have seen families getting torn apart because of this hobby. I will never push my son (due any day) to ride unless he absolutely begs me. Sports first motorcycles last.
Don't get me wrong , I love this sport and recently purchased a new bike. I have qualified for LL's twice and have gotten hurt right before it both times in my youth. At 31 I need to go before hanging it all up. I hoping this will be my last year for awhile.

I'm 38 and faster now than I have ever been. I attribute that to one thing, personal protection. I started selling personal protection/body armor over ten years ago, not as a means to become rich or even make a living but to allow other people the same freedom as I have enjoyed. Ten years ago, I use to get some funny looks by riders that thought I was crazy for wearing my suits, heard all kinds of excuses from heat to flexibility. The bottom line; I wouldn't be riding, with the intent to progress on every ride, without wearing body armor. It's a tool and you use it as such. You have to learn to get off and "roll out" but once you understand the goal, of letting the suit take the impact, it's a whole new ballgame!
That would be my single biggest suggestion, invest in personal protection....
Well I'm 40 now, 30 pounds heavier but leaner and way better shape than before even when riding Local A class in Phoenix in the end! I have been hitting down hill MTB here in the reno/Tahoe area and it has all come back... The basics are the same except sitting and sticking your leg out in corners. My cornering and aggressive speed is still there... I am getting arm pump just thinking about riding again! Bad news is the new Tundra was suppose to be here yesterday and as of 115 this afternoon it's still not here.... Booooooo!
Next weekend I go out for my maiden voyage on the never ridden 2006 KX250.... I've waited this long so 1 more week won't hurt me!
Great find Michael.

Mx is the crack of hobby/sports.
Can't wait.
