Another question: Is anyone coming from Wisconsin/ Milwaukee? I'll be living and studying there for almost a year and I'd love to see some motocross!

hey 5twenty2, amazing art work. I am from around the Madison Wisconsin area and I race at Aztalan mx in lake mills. I think it is about 45 minutes from Milwaukee and always has a good amount of people and good racing.

That's VERY impressive. Any idea on the medium? Particularly the first third and last pictures? I have done a few color pencil drawings and some tattoos, but nothing near that caliber. I will post some others and maybe a few of mine if I can find any. That's awesome stuff.

Those aren't mine^^

Most of mine are geared toward a tattoo style ( tattoo artist) , but this makes me wanna do some like this. Below are mine. The J law is an 18X 24 picture made entirely of words. There is no shading or line work, the others are just to show I have at least SOME charcoal skill. HA.

This one isn't finished yet obviously

These are sick two! Pointelism takes some serious PATIENCE. way tougher than mycography. ( words for shading)
Awesome work! I would like to own some of it!

I was pleasantly surprised. I expected to see some tattoos after reading the subject line.

Thanks guys!

@Bry745 and Ip223: I think I've heard about Azlan before... I hope I can find a way to get there someday! Might be hard without a car...

@Jharper: Thanks! Very nice charcoal drawings! I used colored pencils (polychromos) for all my drawings... actually thought about trying other mediums like charcoal or oil colors as well some time.

2 months ago, I did a new commissioned drawing of Roger de Coster
The drawing was given to him at the MXON in Teutschenthal last weekend under the tent of Alpinestars.
The drawing was commissioned by Gunter Frohn who is a former successful motocross rider himself and who raced together with Roger de Coster. Also Sylvain Geboers has been there!

Here is the drawing of Roger in the early 70's.

Merle,
Saw your work in the VIP area at Teutschenthal, very impressive. I was there to present a painting commissioned by Youthstream to Pit Beirer as a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Thank you!
I wished we could have met there but I'm in America now so I couldn't be at the MXON. I've seen your work on the internet, great work and great achievements! I'd love to see your work in person!

Actually I'm here for studying. I study mechanical engineering in my senior year. I don't have much time for drawing at the moment but I'll be back in Europe next summer.

Youthstream must have an aircraft hanger full of Robs paintings somewhere.

Wow some really talented people
I would really like to be able to draw like that,JHarper and 5Twenty2, but for some reason I really suck at drawing objects

All I ever did sketch was some portraits

She has made feel like I need to find the nearest garbage and promptly drop my computer into it. Here's what I've been working on, but now I've seen her work...Sad Blush

So much is "off" with this picture, I suck at proportions and perspective and...
Cool Illustration! Don't be so hard on yourself.

Tires, alone, take hours to do right. "Automotive" (or motorcycle) stuff is different from portrait-type stuff. It takes a passion to get it right.

There's some passion displayed here.

Impressive stuff. The DeCoster art is pretty damn amazing as is that last cutaway sketch.

Who used to do the automotive cutaways back in the 80's? I remember a few from some magazines that were sooooo detailed.

Yoshihiro Inomoto is one of the more famous cutaway illustrators.

Beautiful work 5twenty2!

Really nice. Cool to see a someone with talent that's intersted in moto. Usually the "artsy types" don't take too kinkly to activities like motocross. Although I do have to admit that still life of rockstar cans (or any other energy drinks logos that only a total tool would think looks cool) makes me fucking cringe.

rob in UK may have to start looking for a new job Wink

well done.
im going to disagree with this one

i know plenty of dudes who are/were into moto and are artistic and have made some good drawings.
