I have heard a few whispers about EFI on the 450....
Honda does not OWN Showa. This is a myth.

Really they don't? I always heard they did or at least a considerable share of the company...... I read somewhere a while back in a moto mag that they have a 25% stake in Suzuki as well

Calimero said it was awesome on our flemish message board, if it was crap he would say it too lol Laughing
and dont forget Honda strives to be the best ALWAYS... and currently the KYB forks with the ssv valving are the best out there right now.....

I had one of those '97 CR250's too. 100% agree: Awesome motor, and peculiar handling that resulted in high sides or front end wash-outs with NO warning.

Honda owns 30% of Showa. This is a fact. The current president of Showa is from Honda. This is also a fact. Honda will use ______ on their bikes next year.

While we are at it, can we get an air filter access like the CRF 250/450 X bikes. It would make life so much easier. I was going to go with the Enzo air bladders on my next Honda so I wouldn't mind the switch to KYB since they were used with the bladders originally. EFI would be nice.

I've ridden Honda's for a long time now but I'm thinking of switching over to Kawi's for next year. I'm leaving alot of contingency money on the table by riding red, plus the kawasaki's look pretty sweet next year. I'm kinda wondering if honda isn't hurting there sales by waiting so long to release information on the 09's.......
I switched 2 years ago....

Wasn't the 97 - 98 CR 250 voted the most dangerous design due to the super rigid POS frame that would vibrate so hard you would get arm pump before the gate dropped. It had a strong motor but the high-siding POS caused more injuries than all the other brands combined. A few pro's would not even ride it especially MC. He said that bike would end his career. You could case a jump over and over on another brand but case that same jump on one of those two bikes and break an ankle or shatter your heels. I hope it is not like those years bike. I can't wait to see the new Honda. I will finaly be healed enough to ride by then and might want to get back on a fresh new bike.
No surprise that a KTM was what actually ended MC's career though!

I've seen the pics of the honda 450, that is the ''changed bike'', plastic looks a bit like kawasaki, exhaust starts on the egnition side then turns like a 250 2stroke to the other site, engine is a lot lighter and there's something special whit the rear shock, kyb's forks...

CONTINGENCY is my main question. I know the bike will be solid, but RED needs to better support GRASSROOTS RACING.

well if the KTM Wey replica ( not just decals folks alot of upgrades) is $15000 the honda will probably be at least $13000... but it will be the baddest "stock" bike in the world...

10K is cheap for a bike that you can race stock at the National level for the next 2 years.
They will sell out quickly. Better get a deposit down if you want one.

I have a little over 200 hours on my 05 CRF450. A couple rebuilds and suspension maintenance is all i have done. Performs the same as new. Awesome bikes.

Unless the Honda comes with "works" suspension we aren't talking apples to apples. I was surprised when the Wey Replica came out because it actually was "works" WP suspension.
