Tyla Rattray and his Husky deal

Edited Date/Time 8/31/2013 10:17am
2008 FIM World MX2 Champion Tyla Rattray has always been a rider who gives it 100% and wants major success. His victory over Antonio Cairoli and Tommy Searle in 08 was no fluke, it was from hard work and good preperation, and that is what he will be looking for when he returns for the Factory Husqvarna team in 2014.

I interviewed him yesterday. Can't wait to see him back in Europe, was always a good guy

Wish him the best of luck over there, however, I'm not sure he'll be beating up on AC anytime soon.
Sounds like it was a fluke!!

I'm just happy he was able to find a ride somewhere for next year.

Im a big fan of the GPs and tyla is only going to make the series that much better. He can be a top 5 guy and podium if he feels good on the bike and trains hard this off season, time will tell.

I know we always hear about how hard it is to go from one series to the other, but does it seem plausible that tyla will have any issues going to the gp's since he has been over here for so long? Or does he make a seamless transition because he has already raced the series before?

Pourcel made the transition back relatively well.

I think like Townley and Pourcel it won't be as easy as when they left, it does seem to take some transition time.

Was not through fluke but through TC getting injured...

Anyway, be good to have him back in GP's. Hope he can mix it in the Top 5. Tommy will be back to battling him AGAIN!

true, but he went from a shitty bike here to a good bike over there.

Tyla is doing the opposite. (the Husky really isn't 'shitty' but it's not exactly a Pro Circuit Kawasaki either)

As great as PC might be, the Husky will basically be a factory KTM.

It's going to be a rebadged factory Kato.

He deserved the win 100%, was leading Cairoli when Cairoli got injured. Of course there is always a question mark could Cairoli have won had he not got injured, but he did and Tyla deserved the title.

KTM CEO Stefan Pierer purchased Husky from BMW earlier this year and for '14 the bikes are basically getting side-by-side development. At first I'd put money on them just being KTMs with redesigned plastic. I don't think Rattray would go back to Europe for anything short of a factory bike capable of winning.

KTM owns Husky (or the CEO of KTM owns Husky), so they're going to be white and red KTM's until they develop their own "flavor".

Did Ratray have any opportunities left here at a Pro Circuit or higher level ride? Seemed like PC was propping him up the last couple years, but it seemed like that ran its course.

Tyla did an interview with Matthes and mentioned he had opportunities to stay in the US, but not with PC. From the rumor mill Traxxas pulled out and the PC 450 program is toast along with it. They will stick to strictly 250Fs again, and that group is full already.

Yes but Husaberg will disappear completely. Stamped out like a bag of shit lit on fire and left on a front porch.

Husaberg + Husqvarna becomes well... Husqvarna. And they aren't going to be white and red but blue and yellow so Husaberg doesn't disappear completely, lol.

So Wilson is back on 250's outdoors next year?

His latest PC deal was for two years wasn't it?

Husqvarna goes to Italy in 1987 to the Cajiva factory - then BMW buys them in 2007 and invest heavily plus merges the BMW 450GS into the Husky product - then KTM CEO SP buys Husky to replace Husaberg who's genesis was Husqvarna....

Husqvarna goes to Italy - the original Husky engineers do not go - instead they develop Husaberg in 1988 - KTM buys them in 1995 and starts producing them in Austria in 2003 - finally they end the original Husaberg line by making Husaberg a clone of the KTM's (with subtle changes).....

Some serious cross pollination going on here~!!!!

GM uses the same basic body/chassis for Buick, Chevrolet........in the 60's this was body by fisher. Differences are subtle changes to the skin....modern branding practices for the masses. More choices driven by cost managment techniques.

When Husqvarna was purchased by Cagiva the factory workers were told they would not be moving to Italy. When Cagiva did move them a lot of the tooling was destroyed and thrown in the lake by disgruntled factory workers. The new 4-stroke motor Husky was working on disappeared and ended up as the new Husaberg motor. I understand the auto way especially in todays economic times, but I do miss the diversity of the different brands.

Electrolux owned husky at the time the castolini and gioni family's bought it.

CA castolini. GI gioni. VA varse Italy,

I probably butchered the names but it is close.

Electrolux still owns the gunsight trademark i believe

Wilson gets his flair for social media from Reed, so of course he was stirring the Europe pot. But in interviews Mitch said Wilson will be back on 250s for the full year indoors and out, the 450 program is done. Now Matthes recently threw out the idea of Reed taking over the PC 450 program under his own tent.

There was a interview on transworld from Toyota of Escondido a few weeks ago where Dean stated he would be riding 250's indoor and out for Mitch next year over here. I talked to Tyla during the middle of outdoors and he mentioned a few offers over here, mitch not having a 450 team next year, then when it came to the husky deal he said it was quite a bit more than he would get here. Having a family now he needs to go where he can make the most coin being later in his career. So good for him, hope he comes back strong next year.
