At Perris MX, they just hang out and wait for you to go to the snack bar, swipe your gear and wallet and haul ass.

best deal I can think of.

I thought that it was Milestone where that happened. Then again, the same people run the two.

Yea, where have you been? It's new technology bro. And from what I've seen locally so far, the $745 price tag doesn't matter to most people.

go to a real world shop that has experienced staff in fitting race helmets.

your not going to save any money if the helmet doesn't fit properly.

I'm pretty sure its a good helmet but they could have designed it a little better.. omg that thing is so ugly
8/26/2013 4:08am
As usual the reason I don't post on vital much. The shop does pay to advertise on vital. Go choose your helmet and add it to the cart, the discounted item shows up with price.

Op asked about a place to get a good deal on a 6d helmet. I answered.

Doh!!! I wanted to be the first person to say this. My head is currently worth about $100 if we're basing it on the price of a helmet. . . It was the lightest weighing bicycle helmet I could find.

I have a Shoei also, great product, but curious if anyone on the board has a 6d. Funny how riders complain about mx prices but probably, drink, gamble and have a $60,000 truck but will not spend good money on protecting their head.that's my point.and I agree Shoei,Arai, bell ,TLD, etc make great products. It also nice to have a lot of options and 6d is just adding to the choice selection.

Not really, its all relative.

i.e You could buy a $430 Shoei helmet.. is it worth paying $315 more for a 6d? Is your head worth spending $315 extra on?

Or instead of buying secondhand $30 hi point boots, is it worth paying $450 more for some tech 10's? Are your ankles worth spending $450 extra on?

Camp332....not quite sure what you mean, but I can know for a fact that the helmets worn by the Geico team riders are the same as what are available to the public. Just curious, do you know where your Shoei is manufactured?

Yes, 6D helmets are manufactured in China, at the same facility as the Bell Moto 9, Fox V-4 and TLD helmets, however the proprietary, patent-pending, technology inside the helmet was developed in here in the US by two ex-pro riders. One of whom is a career moto industry player (Bob Weber) and the other is an accomplished mechanical engineer (Robert R.).

Despite the manufacturing process taking place in China, the genesis of this helmet is quintessential (good ol') American entrepreneurial spirit with these two guys penciling out a design together, building prototypes in Bob's garage and having multiple prototypes tested at independent helmet testing labs to prove the technology concept. It wasn't until they gathered sufficient proof, and game-changing results, from the helmet testing facility that they sourced a manufacturer in China. Bob and Robert have collectively spent several months in China since they began this project. They keep a close eye on their product.

The difference in price between a 6D and the other premium helmets is due to the additional cost of tooling that it takes to build a helmet with this unique technology. The molds are so expensive...crazy expensive!! But the benefits are undeniable. It is well-documented that each one of the Geico riders has had the unfortunate opportunity to test the capability of the helmet, and I know for a fact that each one of them will give a 100% honest endorsement of the helmet's ability to protect their head and affect the concussive elements of their crashes.

I personally have two 6D helmets and have crashed in one with a hard hit to the head. It worked for me. Let me know if you have any other specific questions.

Thx

Adding to above...

And it's manufactured in China because it's cheapest. Common sense tells me if it were manufactured elsewhere it would cost even more!

Bro, I was being a dick. I had no clue the helmets the Geico team members wear are the same helmets available to us squids. Complete fabrication on my part. My apology.

I do know that my Shoei has a "made in Japan" sticker on it. I trust Japanese manufacturing, and QC a lot more than Chinese manufacturing. That trust is based on my consumer experience, hence my fear of spending $745 on a Chinese helmet.

Please understand that I respect everything 6D is doing, up to the China manufacturing part.

For those that know, and some of you have hinted that you do, please fill us in on where the high end, high priced helmets are mfg. Mainly, Arai, Shoei, Thor, Fly and any other that are currently popular. Just curious as the common thought is that being mfg. by slaves should bring a very attractive price. I dont see anything in this helmet that would cause me to spend $1500 on it and that is what it would cost if it were made in the US if it costs half that being made in China.

My Shoei helmet came with a "Made in China" sticker. It is a street bike helmet though.

All I know is I wear a shoei. I have tried and rode with the 6d helmet also. These two helmets are the luxury of helmets compared to other brands in my opinion. I have hit the ground in my shoei, I have not hit my head in the 6d. I don't care where there made I do care about comfort and protection. Both of these brands have that.

I had my 6D helmet shipped to my front door for $633.25. Place your helmet in the cart, it then adds a 15% discount (this will also qualify your order for free shipping). Great guy to work with, excellent customer service, I'll certainly be doing more business with this company. www.joemotoracing.com
