Hope the 3 is available. He deserves it. His Pops is a legend and he would wear it well.

I would like to see him go with his amateur number, #43. Kinda like Barcia did with #51, Canard with #41 and Josh Hill did with #75. Don't take a low number just because pick one that is meaningful to you. If that is a low number then be it.

The old rule should be, back. The number you are finishing is your number and if you are riding your first year 450 you get and triple digit number number because then you're back a rookie.

They are always saying that those numbers make it better for people from outside the sport but thats bullshit. And most of these "career numbers" aren't even getting used for commercial use, so for god sake! In Europe also only Cairoli should have an career number because he is using it for commercial use. The others have there numbers for years but thats because they think they are getting better with it or because they are riding with it from the 50cc's...

I can read fine. He also said only Cairoli should have a career number in the GP's. How does that work? So because JS7 and CR22 have there own brands and are making money off it, nobody else with a career number is? Since they are the exception to the rule and not the norm? Do you know how many of the average consumer identify with a number? I don't have figures but I talk to people everyday who identify riders with numbers. It's called marketing and those guys that are not using it to there advantage are missing out whether anyone likes the rule or not.

ET3 sounds good to me or keep 17, it doesn't matter for MX, he'll still HAVE to run #1.

He is the best rider behind RV, so I think he should run #3 if it becomes available

Um...no. How would he run the 1? He's on a 450 next year.

Brownie only has 10 points so far this season (before Utah, if he even raced?). Eli did mention the number 3 on the pulpmx show. I hope he takes the number 3. He really wasn't interested in 6 or 8. ET3!!

Brown has 10 points right now. So if he's racing Elsinore probability is quite low that he will keep the number.

however, vitards who think that a national champion doesn't deserve to keep his number until retirement should step back and think about the disrespect they are showing. Every man who has an AMA #1 plate in the house got it with so much more work and effort than us keyboardist's could ever imagine, and what? you think they ought to just be treated like some triple digit? i hate humans.

I agree. all these blowhards complaining about brown/dowd qualifying, scoring points in a national/s at 40yrs of age.......and thats not cool enough to keep his permanent number. get a f'n life man. thats incredible....and incredibly stupid to complain about it.

hope ET grabs 3 if it becomes avail.

If Mike Brown keeps earning enough points each year he deserves to keep #3. I hope he's fast enough to keep it for another 10 years.

woo bro re-read my comment , it was directed at the system in place not at brown or his achievements, some of us would like to regularly see a gate filled with near all the single digits Smile

When he was on the Pulp Show this week he said no on #8. He did ask Matthes if Brown was going to have enough points to keep #3 which it doesn't look like he will. I would guess he will end up going with #3.

I think 17 or 43 would be cool. 3 is a great honor also, but I think these other numbers have more actual value than just choosing the lowest available number. Either way, that kid has earned it.

I don't think it was a very high probability, but I'm sure not every top tier rider could bounce back from that real bad heat exhaustion gig he had back in '10.

it's not like brown has been sitting around for years and only shows up to get points to keep the number. he has been racing (fim/edurocross/x-games); and yea he may not be getting points at the other events, but he's been riding and still very competitive. and isn't that all part of the whole marketing yourself and being able to use the number even if it's not just sx/mx.

did eli give reasons why he wouldn't take the other numbers?
