About 10 odd years ago out on a bicycle training ride in San Diego - "The Wednesday Ride" - all the big hitters came out on it and it'd usually be 80 - 100 guys. We were hauling asssss going through and off at 30+ mph everyone buying themselves, I'd just taken a pull and was swinging off and the guy coming through was....... the O'Show.

I was beyond gassed but still managed a " Holy shit it's JohnnyO !! " at the top of my voice. He was cool and we ended up riding a bit back then and would always chat about moto.It was just when he started working with Ricky when RC was on PC.

I mentioned he should get Ricky out on the bike and he just laughed and was like " Er, yeah no !! " guess that was before RC started training properly. Smile

I saw Jake Weimer at the AM/PM after Washougal this year. Told him good ride and that Bud Light was a much better post race drink than Dasani. He said okay and I told him I'd buy him one next year. Then he said he's more of a Coors guy and I said "still getting Bud Light." He was pretty chill for sure.
I saw him at Sharkeez on main st HB a couple years ago hahahaha

Saw Faisst on Main st couple weeks ago too

One time i was doing the immigration line i Dallas at 6 am. I was very tired and i had never seen a famous Motocross/Supercross star in person. So i was there and i look to my left at the line and i saw 3 guys with rockstar shirts and lots of sponsors. It was clement desalle with his mechanics. he was coming from the brazil gp to race unadilla. It was a very weird moment. But it was cool.

Yes,i recall racing in 27 degrees with at least a 25mph wind.

Not sure if it was 89 but i was there from 87 to 90 and it was one of those.

It was the year the start was long,4th gear deep ,then a 90 right into a monster double that i steped off just short of 100ft (158ft Florida measure)

It was scarry as hell, blind takeoff because the jumps were 10ft high. The tracks were so dangerous then wi t h peaked landingd were your frame would hit
Yep 89. And that double out of the first turn was freaking scary! I got stuck in the whoops as they were frozen and my wheel would just spin.

They had Bradshaw do a opening lap that night by himself and the place went nuts.

My wife taught Mike Bell's son a couple years back so I got to meet him during open house at her school.

I raced Buddy Antunez in a dual slalom race in Big Bear one year.

Met Jeff Emig and chatted with him for a while at Irvine Park during an Easter Egg hunt.

This is about Jonathan Beasley, in 2011 me and some friends drove up from North Carolina the night before the national at Budds. We camped out in the car at the track, which was a bad idea lol!! Well, about 3 am I couldn't sleep so I was watching all the partying going on, and I watched more than I wanted to. I look over to the car beside us and see a guy get into the back seat with a girl that is passed out, which I had no clue at the time, thought maybe it was her boyfriend! Turns out he was wondering around the camping area and saw her in the backseat! So long story short, I gave a statement and was not needed in court till the following week after the 2012 Budds Creek national. Three weeks before that national I called up to Budds Creek to see if they had anything going on the week after the national, and Jonathan answered the phone. I told him the situation about the court thing, and he said he remembered hearing about that! He invited me to come stay the week at the track for free and stay in that apartment where the old start finish line was on top of the hill! Oh yea, and he said bring your bike and ride all week!! He is one of the nicest kind hearted men I have ever met!! I get to the track and he is there waiting on me to show me around and give me all the codes to get in and out of the announcers tower / apartment, which the walls were covered with memorabilia and a old penta dirtbike sitting in the living room!! when I was about to head back home he told me to let him know how everything went with court and gave me two redbulls for the road!! If anybody else on here gets to meet him your in for a treat!!

Several years ago while living with my parents my neighbor was Shane Drew from team Honda muscle milk and still is, he was helping me rebuild my 125 in my garage and the next thing I knew Travis Preston came walking in trying to get his practice bike from Shane that he had trucked home for him... that was pretty cool to have both of them around at my house I was pretty young and speechless...
I grew up racing against Shane and his brother Bill in the 70s/80s. His parents still live just down the road from me and we still ride on their property. Good dude!

Oh and in 1978 I went over and talked to Ross Pederson and his mechanic who were changing a headlight on the Team Suzuki Canada box van in a Canadian Tire parking lot. lol. They asked me if there was any good practice tracks nearby and I gave them directions to my favorite one. The next day (Friday) we show up to practice for the National that weekend and the place was full of factory riders and their rigs.lol Pretty cool for us 17 year old kids!

I ran into Ezra Lusk in either 1998 or 1999 at Vasari in the Forum Shops a day before the Vegas Supercross. I assume he was shopping for the SX Award Banquet because he was purchasing a beautiful suit. He talked for a few minutes with me and autographed a cologne tester. Awesome guy.... always fan of Yogi

Not really surprising considering the situation...

Walked into my friend Doug Hitchcock's Auburn 4WD shop in Auburn Ca back in the 80's... he's crawling out from under a Toyota and some short guy's talking to him. I walk past the short guy sitting on the stool at the counter and ask him who's truck he's busting his knuckles on (I mean the damn thing couldn't have been more than a freakin year or two old). Doug wipes his hands off on a blue shop towel and says "his" and points at the short guy sitting at the counter.

I turn to look at the short guy at the counter .... I shit myself twice and try to compose myself... "Oh hi Danny" I say "nice to meet you, sorry bout the truck". If you haven't guessed yet it's Danny "Magoo" Chandler I'm trying not to shake while talking to. I shake his hand and I will never forget the freckled VICE I just put my right hand into. If you watch his video it was one of his "worst stuck" trucks he'd go play on. I was 19 or so at the time.

So I saw him there one other time before his injury, one of the freest spirits to ever achieve what he did. Sorely missed.

Saw Jim Pomeroy filling up his box van at a gas station in Orange, CA. Also saw, if i remember right, Jim Felt making a phone call on a pay phone at that same gas station. He was driving the Honda box van and had the rear doors open with O'mara's 85 250 clearly visible. I stared at the bike in awe for a bit. Saw GuyB at an open house for our kids but does that count?

When i walked the track i knew jumping it was my goal.

I would rather die crashing over it than getting landed on. I was riding for cagiva at this time, the only oneness

The 3rd time over it i landed on the haybales on the right side of the landing.

I rode the front into that whoop section that came back or to say i endoed into on coming traffic.

It was a hell of a crash,i got up looking for my nuts, they are big but that 27 degrees had shunk em a little.

The gas cap had really yank the sack so as i look around and dodge bikes a corner worker is messing with my bike,

It was hung wfo because the cable had been pulled out of the housing.

He picks it up and it takes off going around him in circles while his buddy corner worker is yelling to cut it off.

I was hoping it would blow the crank seal out and i could just hold my nuts the rest of the nite.

It lives so in my semi i get last gate pick, far left.

Gate drop, get into 4th,i mean deep like 50mph and get pushed onto the haybales lining the left side of the start.

I eject and hit that plastic they put over the plywood that covers the entire field.

It is like ice, i bounce a few times and go into the dugout feet first so fast i hit the back wall waist high.

Fall onto my back and look up at all these drunk fans yelling "hell yell" spilling beer on me.

I collect my bike,my nuts,my plastic and head back to the bus to hit my bong and get ready to drive to gatorback.

I think this was the nite guy copper ejected over that step pyramid thing while leading.

Guys like me built this sport just like that, racing to race.

The hero today is the guys in 20th racing to race.

If i came home just out gas money i felt i won a million.
