This thread used to have something to do with RV. Now it doesn't.

I'm still trying to remember when Herlings had ever beaten Villopoto at a Des Nations? Dry Blink

well Pilotdude still counts Blake Baggett's qualifying race as a victory, so I think Herlings' moto one definitely counts haha
And I am pretty sure they both starts on the same gate and ended at the same finish line. Herlings just 16 year old.........Oh, but Herlings has probably gone backwards in the last two years..............

So, what would happen if the USA decided not to show up at all?

No substance and just a fairy tail wish list. RV has done his duty at the MxDN, I'm sure whatever his reasons are make sense to someone who has a clue.

Took me about 8 years to figure out that Geoff makes about a 4-6 week hit and run campain to help polarize the fans.

Oh Yeah. Him , MxMatti , McCread and a few others are warming up the drums as we speak. We take a 3rd place on weird sand track that our boys have no idea how to ride.......and we took shit for the past year because of it. At least this year....it'll be on Dirt!

It's a no win situation for us though. We lose....we get shit. We win.....we get shit. Hopefully we'll get lucky and not have the crowd Boo us and throw bottles at our riders and so forth. Such great sports over there.

Sometimes I wonder why we even fucking bother going to that event.

I don't condone stupid behaviour AT ALL, but if you want the your riders to be shown more respect you have to realise that its a two way street. Banging on about how the GP's are a second rate series, that Cairoli and Herlings are pussies etc creates animosity among Europeans. Can you really expect a perfect reception for Team USA in Europe after slagging off Cairoli or Herlings and showing contempt towards the World Championship for the previous 11 months?

I would say the large majority of European fans are very respectful of the American riders. They're genuinely regarded as hero's over here and have equal status to the GP riders - but there are also a few people who very much dislike what the US team has come to represent because of what written on forums or reported in the media etc.
Jamma......

Fisrt.....I have never called the GP riders anything like that. 2nd....The racist BS that goes towards someone like Stewart is down right disgusting and those types of people aren't popular over here anyways. In fact....where I live in OR.....at the Washougal national , and ever since 1980 ( when I started going ).......I've never witnessed anything racist towards a rider.

And 3rd.....we have quite a few former GP guys here , and I don't see them get booed at all. In fact from just about every race I've seen since any of them got here....they are cheered and loved here.

Last year at the MXoN's.......that WAS NOT a few boo's from a few people. That was the entire crowd booing so loud at our riders it was embarrassing for the sport! The boo's were so friggin' loud....you couldn't hear anything else! That's why I say...." Why should we even go? " . We win...we get boo'd....we lose....we get boo'd..

It was 2012.....and we damn near got boo'd off the stage. In the past 30 years here in the states.......please show me one example of a GP rider getting boo'd off the stage here. Just one.

Pourcel was boo'd, whilst he was laying on the floor! Musquin and Roczen seem well recived by comparison though.

Again.....that was a small group of people acting like complete A-holes. I'm asking for an example of a GP rider on the podium getting boo'd by the entire crowd.

BTW.......last year at the MXoN's......wasn't the only time I've heard the crowd boo.....but it was the most blatant out of any year I can remember.

And this is why I'm 50/50 on the whole MXoN's thing. Why travel all the way across the pond to race it , when you get treated like shit anyways? If I was a rider or a team manager I'd think twice about even going. Screw it!

if you'd ever been to a foreign motocross of nations, you'd never question whether this event is worth going to...

but i'll let you continue to judge an entire continent's fanbase by what you saw on TV, because if you knew the actual truth, you'd see the American riders get treated like rockstars for the entire duration that they are at an event

and cry me a river about the booing... I've been in supercross stadiums booing Stewart / Reed and witnessed the southwick racism in 2007, and the Pourcel stuff in Unadilla and a couple of other times in 2009.
If booing really is the worst thing about the event in your eyes, you seriously need to attend one and witness all the cheering, because i can guarantee there is a lot more of that going on

thats only at the nations tho, because of all the shittalk the american fans produce saying the GPs are shit including the riders etc.
so it sucks ofcourse but its pretty much your fault...

Although I have only noticed that at the nations races and never at a normal race or GP.
When Albee came over and won something at the Mantova Starcross when nobody knew him, he got cheered on like a local guy. Same with Osbourne and whoever came over and raced here (which means they appreciate the series and show some respect) they're well accepted and respected.

Believe me....I would love to go and it's on my bucket list. And although you make some great points.....I still haven't seen one video of an AMA national where a GP rider got boo'd. If I did some searching of the MXoN's podium speeches I bet I could find plenty of them booing the shit out of the Americans.

Some of you guys lump us all together as if this whole country hates any foreign rider. Which is simply not true.

Can we not agree that when the podium speeches happen.....there is a good majority of the overall fan base there to witness it?

Again.......please show me one video over the past 30 years in which we boo'd the living shit out of a GP rider. Not just a rider per say either.......the entire friggin' team got boo'd out of the park!

AND......we ( American's ) get blamed for treating GP riders like shit? With the exception of a few dudes on here.......are you seeing that at any of our races.....as in the crowd in general?

I have a feeiling my question will be dodged and nobody will post a video.

At the American MXoN's races........do you remember the crowd ever booing a foreign team? I don't seem to ever remember that one. If I remember right.....they were cheered. Because over here we appreciate the riders no matter where they are from. And yeah....I know there have been some special occasions with some small groups of idiots .......I'm talking overall......podium.....and what the crowd does.

I can't for the life of me ever remember a USA round of MXoN's where that happened. We haven't thrown bottles and other garbage at foreign riders either......during the God damn race!

Video please.....I'm waiting.

Not saying anything about anyone but before poto crossed the finish line that third moto with Dungey he had to wait on him for about 20 seconds to catch up so they could cross together.

The third moto for POTO was a breeze and even Geoff himself laid claim to POTO being the best in the world after that. But hey this is a new year and son of a bitch if RV isn't going. Fuck!!

And I think the guy who wins the MXoN overall should be rated the best in the World. If Cairoli goes 1-1 or Herlings goes 1-1 then those guys are the fastest for 2013.

On the other hand if Dungey beats them both, then I would give it to Villopoto, because he spanked Dungey all year long.

Two series (AMA Nationals and FIM World Champs) and one event (MXoN) is the only way to define who is the fastest in the World. Injuries count, and POTO won't be in the MXoN and can only lay claim to being the best in USA if Cairoli and Herlings smoke Dungey.

That some of the leading American press claim Villopoto is the fastest rider in the World shows total disrespect to Cairoli and Herlings. Nobody in Europe is claiming Cairoli or Herlings are the fastest in the World. Only the MXoN will prove that point.

Imagine had Dungey not gone to Lommel, where he got spanked by Cairoli. I can see the American press totally ignoring Cairoli and Herlings brilliant effort in the sand.

Odd, I always thought the MXoN was a team race, not a competition to see who the fastest individual rider was.

Then you have been walking around that race with your head somewhere where its dark. The fastest guy usually wins the overall Guyb, be it Villopoto or Everts in 2006, Villopoto in 2007, and 2011, Dungey in 2010, or Cairoli in 2012. Or for that matter Roczen in the MX2 class the last two years.

Well Im sure fans on both side of the pond would agree to that, mxon would lose 99% of its status.

I dont care what country wins. But the chance to se AC and RV or RD, ET-JH start next to eachother makes it the most exiting event of the year.

Without USA mxon is just another GP with some added random guest riders

Those two guys on the right, the little short guy and the slightly taller guy, are they the ones from that second rate series? Hard to tell, never seen their faces before. They any good?

Ahh the full bloom of MX "fans' " perverse ability to make unenjoyable something that exists only to be enjoyed. Like spreading shit all over a fine meal.

I'm not discounting class wins. I'm sure they mean a lot to the guys who earn them.

But...those are cute little plastic trophies. I'm sure they cost, what...maybe $15 each to make?

Which trophy stands out from the crowd at the MXoN? Yeah. The big silver one.

Oh, wait, yes, I remember now, wasn't it that Caarolli guy the fella that won motos at the MXoN in 2006, 2009 and two in 2012? From memory he has won more motos in MXoN from the last 8 years than any other rider and he is usually pretty crap at that race. Villy has also won 4 motos since 2006 and Dungey 3, Paulin 2 and Townley 2. Total moto wins AMA 13, FIM 11.....Second rate series, who said that?

I see racerx yelling from top of their lungs that team USA won World Junior championship which is not even team race.
I`m just laughing. There was 5 americans in 125 class.
Give credit to your World champion.
