Who do you guys rate as your current favorite moto journo?
As much as I admire the enormous amount of content that Matthes produces I wouls have to say it is a close call between Ping and Weege and following Weege's latest DMXS interview he is now ahaead by a nose. He's got to be one of the funniest, insightful and entertaining journos out there (even if he is ruining our sport!)

Imagine if journos in other sports just sucked balls all the time? Would be pretty boring...
Weege is great, but he's in a tough spot, I'd imagine his TV gig sometimes weighs on his mind when writing...
When Jody Wiesel get's on his retro goggles and looks back at moto history, he puts together great articles.

Kit Palmer; very under appreciated . I don't know Kit, have met him, but he's just always there working hard.
Adam Wheeler, though I trip on the flourish in his prose sometimes.
Xavier Audouard
Matthes; what he's doing with the podcasts, especially the historical interviews, is an incredible oral history of the sport that was pretty much unavailable.
DC, especially when he can still find time to do long form.
In photo-journalism GuyB is the best.
The races themselves are covered well.
Matthes churns out a lot of content. I feel like he is at his best with his historical podcasts and opinion pieces.
Jody Weisel has actually written some really great pieces, especially when does retrospectives on people he knew, stuff he tested, and crazy stuff he's witnessed.
Eric Johnson and DC himself have similar styles and do good work. Maeda does good rider profiles.
Ping best writing happens when Racer X sends him out to ride at some whacky venue and he tells a story about it. JT has really good insights and is current - he is underused right now.
DMXS don't consider themselves journalists but I've been enjoying them for many, many years too.
We are very lucky to have guys like this in moto. I follow most types of racing and there is nothing like this for content.
The guy KNOWS his racing. He loves the sport and he can be found lurking in the shadows when you least expect it.
We don't get to read his stuff too often; but, when he does write an article...somehow he always "Nails It".
IMO.
Matthes is the ron burgundy of moto journalism

I like Matthes because he's different from weege in that he will speak his mind and opinion without worrying about people crying. He will talk about rumors and stuff all these other little girls are scared to talk about. I respect that alot. That's why he's successful with his podcast. He talks about what the fans wanna hear. Insider stuff. He calls stuff like he sees it & will tell us the rumors in the pits. Some riders and teams cry about it, but oh we'll. what's with all the secrets in MX anyway?! I enjoy all the new and old podcast and listen to all 3 shows weekly.
And JT.... He's always a dickhead to Matthes and worried about saying anything. He's one of the guys that is scared to talk about riders, rumors and really won't say his opinion bc he's scared of I don't know what. Maybe getting beat up by RV or some other 140lb rider haha.
Seriously though.....I enjoy all the stuff the guys do here. I don't really ever listen to the pulp shows or subscribe to any mags....as far as MX goes for info , I usually come here. There is some really cool shit that gets put up on the home page.
Your opinion is just that and you're entitled to it. However, remember that I am usually talking about one of my friends in these situations, not to mention that I am the sales/brand manager for FLY Racing, work weekends for the BTO KTM team that I raced for and also write for Racer X and PulpMX so I I have to think about more factors than you realize when I criticize or praise riders. Sure, I would love to just run my mouth about things I see like others can at times but I have a lot of ripple effects from what I say and do. As for being a dickhead to Matthes, he is one of my best and closest friends so you may be reading more into that than you think and you don't see the whole picture to that situation. I'm not scared of anyone, but insulting one of my friends or sponsored riders isn't a smart move for anyone. Having been in their shoes for so long, I know what it feels like to be judged by strangers, much like your post here.
