While surfing this forum during my lunch hour it got me to thinking about all the bikes iv'e owned. A few stand out more than others, so here's mine with a short bio about each. A mint 74 Combat Wombat ,I got in a trade for a clapped out Yamaha atc because the owners son couldn't reach the ground on the Hodie! Rickman Hodaka that a friend in Apple Valley sold me for 25.00 BUCKS (along with two boxes of parts) and a beautiful blue 75 Bultaco Pursang. Loved that bike , Awesome powerband bottom to top. Traded a Super Rat and 250.00 for it. Miss that one the most..... I know it's hard to pick just a few but certain one's always make you smile to yourself when you think back on them.
What the heck were they thinking?
Honda had the Elsinore.
Ossa had The Stiletto
Husky's were Husky's
Penton's were Six Days
Cappra's, the name even sounded cool.
I was on an Ace 100b+, was no way I was gonna ride a freaking "Thunderdog"
or "Road Toad", or "Combat Wombat", even the Superrat was a weird one to me.
And I loved that Hodaka.
I mean, who want's to ride a rat?
The Shop
DeCal Works Huge Plastic Inventory of UFO and Polisport kits.
Luxon 4-Post Bar Mounts
$189.95 - $239.95
Street bikes as well.
1976 Honda XR75
1976 Honda CR125
1978 Honda CR250
1983 Honda CR250
1981 YZ80- gold keeper
1982 KX80- turd, liked it at the time but not worth holding onto.
1983 KX80- platinum keeper, iconic bike.
1984 KX125- great bike, but the dream garage is going to get pretty full so sell it.
1985 KX125- see above
1985 KX250- ditto, though I loved this bike even though the magazines hated it.
1986 KX250- biggest pile of shit I ever owned, if I still had it today I would burn it. Ok, not the last part. But it was a POS.
1986 CR125- hated the above mentioned KX250 so much, sold it mid-year and bought a CR125. Gold keeper, great bike.
1987 CR125- another keeper.
1988 YZ250- another mistake, it looked cool but for me was a turd.
Adult life set in, bikes became fewer, but the 90 RM125 was good, the 91 KX125 was slower than my 1980KD80, the 93RM250 was the oddest looking bike ever (the year with the weird seats and graphics?).
Ironic that in my garage now I have a couple bikes I always wanted back then but was too young- 81 and 82 Rm125. If I could just get me a mint 82 RM250 and the above mentioned bikes from my past, the dream garage would be complete.
Well, I guess I would want an 82 RC250 and an 85 RC125 to complete the garage, but that might change the budget a tad.
'74 YZ125 Monoshock patterened after the YZ250.
'75 YZ175 watercooled Shinobi.
Planned on doing a resto, but have come to the realization that it will sit for 10+ years before touching it. Time for it to go.
There are 3 bikes I wish I never sold: My 98 KX250, 2000 ZX6R and a 76 HD Big Twin I custom built. The 2 Kaws I purchased brand new.
