J law went 2-1 in the 450 pro class at glen helen and apparently got down with 450 pro Brandon Brady after practice.

Glad to see him racing but a 2-1 at REM is a long way from where he needs to be.

I wouldn't put too much negative weight on his 2-1 at REM.

Some of the fastest in the world sometimes show up at local races and get a run for their money by the local regulars. I am not saying that J-law is indeed "back", but local results don't mean squat. Especially if the local REM guy gave him a run for his money. I have watched local REM guys give factory guys fits for years, goes way back to the carlsbad days......

True every weekend at Saddleback was like a National race.

If he intended to make a come back this year Southwick may have been the best place to do it. REM? Maybe he's planning a comeback for 2014...

Sadly he probably made more money racing local, than he would have going to a national

I do, he is obviously not where he wants to be but the fact he is still trying and shows up at GH in the heat...good to see!
Some more work and dedication he will be a possible top 10 guy in the 450's...he can for sure do it if hes applied...winning at REM is not easy.

I hear you.... However, AC292 showed up at REM last year and won the pro class starting as in intermediate from the second gate. I am just basing my statement on the expectation that a lot of guys on here have that he is going to show up and run top 5. Also not the right place to have an altercation since REM is where a lot industry guys race. Just my opinion

Dang Lieb, not a good time to be cheating when he was just under scrutiny for his deal in the GPs with his x team. He's gotta know people are watching him a little closer right now... Drama drama!

Drama? not hardly. Michael used bad judgment 1 lap not every lap as reported by Jody. Not that it makes it right but it was the line of choice for many riders. As for the drama between Jason and Brandon in practice...... there wasn't any, just a few words between them. Jody was nowhere near Jason's pit, I was and heard the exchange. Jody would do better to REPORT on the race instead of creating problems. Oh and the racing was really good!

Funny Story,

I think, when REM first stopped going to Carlsbad (when it closed), they may have went to that track in hemet for a short period of time, before making the move to GH. I can't remember the name. It just stunk like cows. Anyways, I went there like the first weekend back from shoulder surgery when I rode for KTM, just in my truck very low key. There was a kid on a 250 that was the local hero, I just wanted to get behind a gate. He was all OVER me and the motos were long. The people were cheering him on so loud when he was behind me. The first moto, I won, but he was right behind me. Before the 2nd moto his dad and him came over and were so nice. Just excited. You could tell they were pumped to have had such a close race wit a"sponsored" guy. Going to the line for the second moto, I had more pressure on me than I ever felt. He had like 5 guys packing his gate and a crowd around just supporting him. He got the start and I was behind him. He was on a 250 and I was on a 125 and I had to run it in on him to get around him and he stalled it.

Man, I was getting flipped off, yelled at and this kid actually started catching me as the laps wore on. I was out of shape, it was hot and I couldn't let this kid pass me. He got close. I remember when the race ended, I felt like I had just kicked a puppy in the stomach in front of these people. I was getting dirty looks, he was getting hugged. I tried to tell him good race, he just blew by me.

I go to my truck and my mechanic and I were like " We got to get out of here!" and sure enough here comes the kid and his dad 10 minutes later to tell me I "was lucky" and that I had to ride like that to win because I knew he was faster! I didn't even know what to say, I was getting yelled at, a crowd gathered and here I am a factory KTM rider just wanting ti get out of there!!! it was crazy!!! It went way off subject, apparently the kid worked construction with his dad during the week and they were telling me I thought I was "privileged" and "if I had to work all week I wouldn't be in front of his son" It got deep. I just sat there bewildered. I never knocked him down, I barely touched him. I got aggressive but I had to, He was on a 250 and I was on a 125, His roost hurt!!!! haha
.
My mechanic and I left and we were like "what just happened??????"

Sure enough, I got a call Monday and had to explain myself to my boss at KTM. Bummer deal.

A LOT of altercations have happened at REM between the "fast" guys and the local yokels... Fast guys show up and the local guys see opportunity.

It happens all the time. Didn't Tyla or Deano just almost get beat at a REM race?

Don't get me wrong, I loved the REM races and the a lot of the guys there, especially when it was at Carlsbad and I was from El Cajon. it was always just a pain in the ass to race, almost more pressure there than a national.

I could see that happening at a lot of local tracks. It is the typical them against us mentality. I think that the track you are talking about was Competition Park or something like that. I remember going there and it was hot like the face of the sun and stunk like cow shit. It was in Hemet kind of near that area where they shoot all of the freestyle videos.
Like I said before, I wish J Law the best. I have never been a "fan" but he does add some interest to the sport. I just hope he matures enough to get that his past car flipping, drunken behavior still follows him. Right or wrong, If there is an incident, 90% of the people are going to blame him first even before hearing both sides. That is the down side of the bad boy image.

I shouldn't have used cheating, wrong word. Cutting the track. I like lieb alot, don't get me wrong. Always liked him and I'm not bashing him. I meant because of the whole shit storm with the team and their PR release, the rumors and that he should just be a bit careful with anything when it comes to racing because for example the pic, seems like those guys were looking for something just to throw on the fire. Maybe that's not the case, but look what they wrote.
So Jason and Brandon's "scuffle" was just words if that? What's with them twisting stuff and making up drama?

So first off You are replying to Mr Lieb .

2nd Jody has an axe to grind because of the Freese incident at the 2 stroke race that resulted in some possible litigation from Mr Liebs future son in law against Glen Helen.

3rd , I think anyone who is actually at these events knows MXA either Over or Under exaggerates just about everything.

For some Motocross begins and ends at Glen Helen, Their dial up connection hasn't got the message that it in fact does not .

I say, what's a foot or two either way? Kind of like the yellow markers used at the nationals.
Long as your close.

I don't read MXA and never have. Growing up when I actually had magazine subscriptions, it was dirt rider & Racer X. So, no I didn't know the back story with those guys.

Ok I as a person who was at REM with Leib would like to clear up some of the statements made by MXA. I find it comical that MXA would clearly go out of their way to slam Leib for on ONE lap cutting a corner that was at the 17-18 min mark of the 2nd 20 min Moto. Michael was fighting a chassis issue all day and chalks the corner being cut to a "a screw up" and at the corner in question the MXA guys happen to be parked right there. FYI I was standing with some of the guys from MXA. After Leib went down leading on the first lap he charged from 12 sec behind to within 3 secs of j-law. Only to have a last lap fall and Finnish 3rd on the Moto.

So the point I would like to make...

MXA goes out of their way to paint Leib as a cheater and say nothing about how he was the only 250 in the 450 class. He was fine with it as he just wanted seat time and figured a few 20 min Motos in 105+ deg heat would be a good time.

So he went from the holeshot and j-law making a clean pass lap one to a great battle with j-law for 5 laps then passing him and on to win Moto 1. Moto 2 again a holeshot on a 250 in the 450 class to fall on lap one and charge back from 15 sec down to 2nd place and miss a corner ONE time (note j-law and many others clearly blew it A LOT 1st and 2nd Moto) and a last lap fall pushing to catch J-law an 3rd place Finnish.

MXA loves to slam this kid every chance they can. Why not be happy a fast rider besides J-law came to your local race?? Funny they only slam the kid every chance they get and won't say a word positive.

How about the good race that was going on? Really was fun to see a few fast guys going at it on a 10 foot wide track an nothing nasty going on just good racing.

Nice twist on the truth MXA and great reporting guys. Wink

Glad they gave us the low-down on the top eight in the 60+ expert class!
Do they have a 60+ beginner class too?

Wow, all I can say after reading that article is someone needs to talk to whoever wrote that! It looks horrible on every single person except a minor few Kuwaits and 50+ riders, everything else was so far past dramatic negative I felt like I was reading something that was written by an angry disgruntle. Really going to re-think clicking a link with mxa on it next time as that just looked horrible for someone to put that much effort into writing something so stupid for our sport.
