who else thinks this is a cool idea? Most of the dirt bike guys are gonna be suprised when the quads are throwing down lap times faster than 75% of the pro bikes!
Nothing cool about it.....they blow all the dirt off the track and basically turn it into a TT track with jumps.
If I never saw a moto quad again it would be too soon.

I don't remember which race it was, but they ran the quad's BEFORE the bike's!! That's screwed up!!! Typically, they run the quad's after the bike's are done!!! In hare scrambles..
Why would they run quads and not the WMA races on the same day? The industry is 97% male, maybe by putting the women into the "big show" we could draw more into the industry.
Back in the day when I was a slow novice, I jumped on a buddy's quad at our local practice track. Within 5 laps, my times were faster than his and he was an A rider.
Comparing bikes to quads , theres only one guy that was pro at both, John Natalie. He straight up said in an interview its harder to ride quads and it beat you up more. He qualified for 3-4 Dirt bike nationals in the 250cc class in 2001.
now i know im on a bike forum and im not ripping on bikes at all, but give respect were respect is do...
That being said..... the dynamics for the two machines are different enough that they should be run on seperate days. Or 4-wheelers at either end of the schedule. This is just an opinion.

Now, could I go out and beat the best on quads? No way. Those guys are good and they deserve respect. They are maniacs the way they jump those things.
With that said, quads and bikes just don't mix. You need different track layouts to be fair to both.
John is a fast dude, but I wouldn't expect him to say quads weren't tougher. I mean, he IS a quad guy.
One of the local tracks used to allow quads and bikes on at the same time. I would take most of the corners high so it didn't obliterate the ruts and knock off the surface dirt. Unfortunately, there are way too many guys on quads that are clueless, even after having things explained to them. Today, the track only has quads on there 1 day a week.
I did find that if the track had just been watered, the quad was quicker than most of the dirtbikes, large jumps and whoops excepting. Also, if the track is way too soft for dirtbikes, an hour of quads would firm the dirt up just right, making it easy to create excellent ruts for the bikes.
I heard he got hurt pretty bad a few months back. Hope he's doing ok.
MX bike = stand up jet ski. It takes skill lots of practice, etc to go fast.
Quad = Sit down PWC, anyone can buy one and ride it fast in the first hour they own it.
I had a sit down PWC for a month before I sold it and bought another stand up.
If it works, who cares?
They simply ruin a moto track. Blow the good dirt to the side and shine up the hardpack.
