I'll take a stab at that. The plastic on the bike looks completely disjointed and cobbled, like they had a different person design each of the parts not knowing what the others were doing. Sharp lines, round lines, blue, black, white, grey, no rules just design your piece and then we will assemble them into the final product. None of the lines or colors flow together or make sense to me. I actually like the modern euro-look on the KTM's, Husky's, etc., so that's not my hangup.
Also, I believe they are going to alienate a large portion of their offroad racing buyers since it's going to be virtually impossible for IMS or Clarke to make an oversized tank for these bikes.
Don't see how you'd use a quickfill / dry break system either.

I am more curious about how it preforms.
Other than that, I think they look cool.
It's a pity the 2-strokes haven't at least got the new swingarm and rear wheel after all this time.
Function dictates form......the lack of plastic lets out all the heat vaby!
I like the appearance of the subframe attachment points but it looks like it would wad up or snap off easily in the event of a crash/cartwheel. Looks weak.
One thing I really have issues with, is the hunch back, Quasimodo bump with the tank/airbox chunk that sits on the frame, makes the bike look so top heavy, out of balance something I think the CRFs kind of got as well, in contrast to KTM that just look fast on the stand.
Kind of confuse about the titled cylinder on the 250F as well, and why they kept it on the 450F. I just feel people newer accepted it, and the reason why people still think JS career went to shit kind of goes with that design and with reverse rotation? From experience, they know their shit, and maybe we all will dig it in a year, but seems the lightweight figures, and looks I suggest was what people were craving for was toasted for new inovations that market don't care about (sans EFI).
If I would get one for half the price of an KTM, I would consider it, because of greed. But those emotions that makes my want to spend anything on a new bike, is just absent.
Time will tell if some of us were wrong.
But i agree they could have taken advantage of the extra space for the rider to move forward with out the vent tube. But i guess that will be a "factory trick part" that also can be done in the backyard haha.
Now, explaining why they think a bike is ugly requires more thought.
At least a couple of people made the effort to qualify their statements, as GrapeApe did. Nice job.
Now for those of you who like it...maybe you could explain what you like about it the new Yamaha offerings.
My intension here is to get some qualified observations. Thanks.
One things for sure, long term use is not going to be friendly to that part.......
Also the header around the cylinder is baffling from a heat standpoint, thats the most vital part of the engine you DON'T want to get hot. As you can see airflow to the engine is heavily restricted even to the head pipe bec of how low the radiators are......anyone remember hearing the heat would NOT affect the shock on the previous model?....Well, it did.One can only guess after some mud buildup how well this engine can disperse heat

With this new design, both bikes look much more smaller. I assume the way they share pretty much everything is due to the budget troubles Yamaha is having, but I'm really happy the finally turned backwards the 250 engine. The only little thing with this engine, is that the exhaust needs to be around the cylinder.
Futuristic bike for sure. But I'm still in love with the 2006-2013 YZ's :-)
250 F and turned into another bloated complex and disposable pig.
No thanks I will keep my 2 stroke....
SO, i just gave it a photoshop up to see the potential of this thing, and i have to say its definitely better than how i first pictured. This is a 250 (ignore the white backgrounds, and just played around with a few bits...Wonder if it'll change peoples minds when the bikes start actually getting modified and ridden?
Anyway....
