I had that bike, it was my first race bike. Talk about a heap. Steering column leaked radiator fluid on a regular basis, there was no bottom end whatsoever but it sure screamed on top (or at least made a lot of noise..), headshake galore and the suspension was horrific.

Got a 1984 KX125 after this YZ and the difference was amazing. Still miss my 84 KX. Sad

Full on unobtanium works kick stand on a moto bike is bitching. Can't tell you how many times I remember seeing Wardy throw a sick butt whip over the finish line, prop his factory SR up on it's kick stand and then talk to Larry Maiers.

Oh man, I remember those 84 KXs, they were wicked. I raced 82-85 YZ 125s and I still remember being jealous of the guys on KXs in 84 and 85. I can still hear those things in my head, they even sounded meaner than anything else on the track.

like guyB said, at least they're still making them, it could be worse, they could just stop making them!! its crazy though

why cant they just throw on the updated plastic and call it a day? they do it is australia, not to mention they put on some gytr parts.

just giving more and more market share to KTM, oh well, next year there will be husky and ktm and then yamaha. They took their sweet time putting efi on the 250f so maybe we'll see some progress in 15.

You mean something like this. This is a factory prototype version that cured the head stem leaks, instability and lack of bottom end. I think from all your posts Newman that this may be your ideal bike, sans blinkers and mirrors. The bike that can bring back affordable racing.

I wouldn't want to be one to bet on what Husky's going to do next. Remember, all new lineup for next year.

Not sure what makes this version look so much better, the lack of the vent hose or the 2 stroke engine with plenty of room around it? Regardless, I'm going to fire the designers at Yamaha and sub out the position to TCI Performance.
