Quick question. I have spark but it seems to be pretty weak....would the fact that I'm using a titanium bolt/nut with the coil ground wire make any difference? Maybe this is a dumb question but I wasn't sure if maybe replacing with a steel bolt would improve spark strength?

Thanks in advance!

I would doubt that the Ti bolt has anything to do with it. The ground is from the wire to the frame, the bolt is just holding it there. Be sure the connector is clean and not corroded. Rub a piece of sandpaper across it, and do the same thing to the frame. Check it with an ohm meter. You could also clean and re-seat all the connectors in the harness for good connections.

You could also throw a steel bolt in there to see if it makes a difference.

Just as an FYI, I tried both and there is not difference in spark....

Ok, do an ohms check of the coil on the primary and secondary sides. I bet you find that the secondary side ohms reading is well above 20 ohms. That would indicate that the wire to plug cap are dirty or corroded. Remove the plug cap ( read unscrew) and the cut about 1/4 " off the wire and then screw the cap back on. While doing this inspect the plug cap for problems.

Ti is a poor conductor of electricity. Typical carbon steel bolts will be about 300% more conductive than a Ti bolt. Ti is often used more frequently in/as resistors than a conductor.

You have obviously proven that the Ti bolt is not the culprit, but understand you will lose about 1/3 of your conductivity with the Ti bolt IF it were passing an electrical current.

As long as the wire connector has good clean contact with the frame, the method used to keep it there has no bearing on the issue.

Have you tried disconnecting the kill button?
