Motocross tracks aren't suppose to be smooth, as wide as a highway or the way the riders want it. AMA needs to cater to the fans, not the riders. NASCAR does a good job of that and I think MX could learn from that.
not a national caliber track imo. Mx sports sucks as i'm sure the track in Utah will too.
end. Davey will eventually get rid of all the current national tracks. 22,000 at Muddy Creek? Big deal, Red Bud kicks their ass!
No beer for sale at a national, WTF?
I know it sure was packed in the camping area and on th eday of the event, you could not get near the fence!
I also took photos of the Friday practice if there is anyone on here that rode and wants me to look to see if I caught you out there. I need your bike brand and number, and if you have a name on the front plate that helps.. I will post them on here once I find them.
i thought the euros were supposed to be the complainers
did they say shit about this track?
musquin loved how technical it was and KR didn't say anything bad even after hitting the dirt.
it's not perfect, but for a first year run i thought it came out very good. it will be improved for sure.
Pit Row
As to the track being sketchy, I have no idea what you are talking about. Yeah it got bumps on it but that's motocross. The jumps were built just fine. I'm a local A rider where I live and I jumped everything other than the uphill triple in the first 3 laps or so and never was thrown funny or had any issues whatsoever. Even on the Bomber, you land just past the apex of your jump anyhow, so you don't know a 20 foot backside to the third one or anything like that, the only time it really looked sketchy at all was when someone shorted it a little in which case it was much more forgiving than, say, the Leap at RedBud; the riders didn't just stop and no one went over the bars or got tossed off just from shorting it.
Other than right off the gate too, it didn't get any dustier than say a High Point or Steel City at the end of the day either. It's uspposed to be a national championship anyhow, it's nice to see the riders have to cope with different soil types throughout the year, not every race can or should have sandy loam all around the track.
We were there and the facility, spectator areas, and overall atmosphere was terrific. I have also been to Red Bud and Budds Creek and would rank this one as good or better as a total package facility. The only complaint would be a lack of bathrooms and concessions in the spectator area. No problem there, just bring a cooler!
I don't remember much from racing there back in the late 80's and early 90's when I was on 80s except that there were lots more trees and the viewing was not good. Looks like they fixed that
