Motocross not mainstream for TV

I don't care what cable or dish network you have if this is present day state of moto viewing we've moved inches not miles. It's a shame to the pure sport of motocross that everyone thinks a dirt bike rider is ridding supercross. MX Sports you should have just made a simple deal with one provider like Speed for all moto 2's and made a 1 hour show of it period. MX Sports failed.
To show your disgust I say boycott it and their dumb ass schedules and wait a day and watch them on U-Tube.
And btw stop telling me how far we've come.

I don't think boycotting and watching on YouTube is going to get the sport anywhere - on the contrary, actually. By you not tuning in on TV, there is one less viewer to the TV show. When the networks look at the viewing stats and see the numbers not increasing (or declining), do you think they'll be chomping at the bit to increase the TV coverage?

It's simple supply and demand in my opinion. The less people that tune in to watch, the less likely networks will want to pick up a solid schedule.

Yeah but all four moto's broadcast live on TV across Europe and pay-per-view online web streaming available to the whole world is not enough for Youthstream! Now they want to re-configure the whole GP structure in order to meet this highly prized (and mythical), mainstream TV slot.

Surely the best solution for Pro Motocross (GP or AMA) is to broadcast all four moto's in full on a more obscure TV channel or web site, and show an hour long highlights programme on a more high profile channel?

An hour long highlights show would be easier to schedule and would be more appealing to watch for the casual fan anyway. Lure them in, direct them to where they can watch the live races and use any increase in viewing figures to negotiate a better TV deal in the future.

Let's get this straight: there are multiple sports that cut across different networks, including sports with substantially higher profiles than motocross. Many of which are on channels people want to go to (Fox family or ESPN family). So, it's not uncommon even if we all would love to watch 4-5 hours of MX straight without bending over to pick up the remote.

But you have the chance to watch 19 of 24 motos live, with three of the remaining five on the same day, and you're not going to watch them live because you have to change channels. Really?

There's another thread here where someone couldn't figure out if his provider has NBC Sports because the broadcast schedule lists it as NBCSP rather than NBCSN. Heaven forbid someone couldn't just turn to the listed channel to confirm if it wasn't obvious that they're the same.

Then you've got people who are tweaking because Fuel (the same network that has listed SX lites during the SX season as 125 SX) listed it as supercross, when the broadcast time is the one given for MX.

How do some people not realize that MOTOCROSS IS NOT A MAINSTREAM SPORT? 19 motos live for a non mainstream sport is pretty amazing. I'm happy. Let's not forget you can watch every single moto live online as well.

If you're going to complain about something, complain about them showing replays while Stewart gets passed by Villopoto and Dungey.

The TV stations are going to show the programs in the time slots that bring in the most money. That's business. I'm sure everyone here that might run a business would do the exact same thing.

This includes the NBA playoffs, split between TNT(TBS), ESPN and ABC.

It appears that the IQ of the average MX fan dropped to new low this weekend...they can change a clutch but have a hard time changing the channel....with very clear and concise instructions.
My favorite was the 909 guy that claimed he was there then bitched about the coverage....
I was blown away with the stupidity of humanity that was evident on here Saturday.

Well, I watched all the coverage from Brazil yesterday in high def. I went on to mx-life tv (they didn't tell me who won) clicked GP of Brazil and it played in hi def.

It's streamed on the same easy to navigate website every time.

What we have going on here in the US is just plain backwards.

More people going to the races than ever and we aren't mainstream enough now? Never used to be a problem when we have great coverage for more than a decade. But hey, if Icelandic whale humping can make it on ESPN 2 and we cant I guess you might as well call the sport dead and move on.
