I know what's going on.
I'm not sure who you know, maybe he worked for the grading contractor, but the project is moving along according to schedule. I wouldn't be in miles of trenching laying out water pipe in 100 degree heat and missing Mammoth if we were months behind schedule.
Explanation on the website:
The updates have stopped going out for two reasons,
1. Even though the project is approved through Federal EPA and US Fish and Wildlife and the Tribal jurisdictions required, local environmentalist groups do not want this project to be built, we do not need their approval for this project. However, every time a new photo was posted with a bulldozer near brush, they would call the EPA and say we were brushing land and disturbing sensitive habitat, hence we have a very large biologist bill to prove we were not in sensitive habitat at anytime. The updates were causing headaches for us, they were awesome for the rider base, but by providing info to the motocross industry we were also providing info to groups that don't want this track built or for motocross and off roading to be allowed anywhere.
2. The second reason is we are in the process of updating the web page for some large sponsorship reasons that will be announced in the next few weeks.
We will have an announcement on the grand opening date as soon as we know we can hit the target 100%. We want the facility to be ready and it to be great from the first visit, the tracks need to be worked in and prepped to make sure they are ready for day in and day out riding and racing.
Construction wise, there was a lull as the grading contractor completed their phase of work, an official walk through was required; it lasted for a couple of days as the finishing touches were done on the grading. Right now we are installing all of the underground infrastructure for phase 1 including water, electrical, security and telecom. The next thing after that is the actual construction of the tracks, buildings, landscape, fencing, etc.
It is almost to the point where we can start offering tours on site.
If anyone wants to know more you can email me at kirk@palaraceway.com or call me at 888-725-2691. I am more than happy to answer questions to calm the rumor mill. The one thing I won't answer is when is Pala Raceway opening? Because I get asked that about 100 times a day. Once we can know the date we can guarantee that we will be open, everyone will now.
As Always Thanks,

The continued rumblings of rumors that Pala is dead have become more increased as of late and the fact that Kirk does not return phone calls or answer emails as of late does not help much.
The latest rumor I have heard from someone in the "know" is that the money behind Pala pulled out and they are looking at buying Elsinore - now there's a good one for ya...
I still do not have an answer on the Grand Opening date, and can not call everyone back that asks when we are opening. There will be a major announcement when we are 100% confident that we can open with everything in place for phase #1 and not a moment sooner. It will be worth the wait once we do open, this project has been in the works for over 7 years, and we understand people are anxious and can't wait for Pala to open.
The rumor mill is going off right now on what our group is doing, I think its funny, for the most part our group is considered 'outsiders' from the industry and people really do not know who we are and what our goals actually are. Pala is our main focus right now and no investor has pulled out, that would be tough to do as our company is a legitimate corporation that is fully funded.
The status of construction is that we are working on the underground infrastructure still, we expanded our system to include the potential for timing and scoring loops, TV production conduit, high pressure water lines, electrical lines, data/Internet/telephone, sewer, etc. We had a delay with our water pumps delivery, we couldn't test the irrigation system under pressure, keeping the trenches open for another week or so before we begin to back fill and work on the track layouts and construction.
This project is not the typical motocross track in a field. Everyone says the sport needs to get to the next level and that is what we are trying to do with the quality of the racing facility at Pala.
If you have a direct question email it to me at kirk@palaraceway.com and I will try to answer as soon as possible.
Thanks,

I know how those treehuggers throw down lawsuits as fast as RC rides.....normally last minute, after most work and much money has already been spent. Old tactic they use thinkin' they'll bleed ya dry and discourage even though you may have all the necessary construction and use permits. Rile up the Indians, city/county officials, mayor....or whoever will listen to those wackos.
Again, all the best to you.
If I moved back to CA (which is a possibility) I'd move to that area just for the recreation opportunities available.
I'm so frustrated by how some environmentalists have just became "anti-everything they don't like." It's really scary.
Good luck w/ the facility!
I can not thank you enough for the effort you are making.
Now about that Elsinore thing. I noticed you didn't deny that one...
As soon as the housing market comes back that place may be toast anyway.
Good to hear its still on.
