I made this picture (scanned, no digital pic) of "Gunner" in 1991, Belgium, Nismes (nog sure). This was a big jump (in those days) and Mike was the only jumping it frequently..

MIke didn't like the bieffe helmet.. this is an Arai with Bieffie visor.

Mike had a lot of problems this year, also with his finnish mecanic (very serieus guy, later in motoGP working for Repsol Honda) Mike worked al lot better with Graham Kent ( in the KTM days)

Worked with Mike @ Suzuki and Cagiva and was a pleasure to always be around, good guy, his pop also was classic. Have seen Mike at Ride to Recovery golf tourney few years ago and he looked good, hits the ball a mile.

Mike used to show up to the Wild West race series back in the mid-late 90's and just ruin everyone. The guy was so unreal on the bike, it was awesome to see. He even brought Seth Enslow with him a few times on their black YZ's and their Xtreme gear. He always had the sickest custom helmets too... It was a very impressionable time for me and i remember i was a huge fan of him. Somehow he ended up being really good friends with one of our racing buddies and ended up moving in with him and building a private track.

not sure how much longer after is when Mike went downhill, but for those few years that he would show up to our local races it was awesome. still a huge fan.

as a kid i wanted to be that guy in the first photo. head to toe including the cagiva...

Kudos to the magazine with beautiful and detailed interview to Mike!!!!

It really shows up what happened.


it seems that he is back again with a motoccross school...I have to come down in California for some lessons

Awesome rider. I was a bit sad to hear of the troubles he was in. Im sure had he reached out sooner things had have been different.

But racers and athletes.....alot have a hard time swallowing their pride and asking for help after so much success.

Sure hope he gets back on track...and on the track even of just for fun really....like Chicken.
